Prophecy Fulfilled; And It’s Not Good

“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits: they do not gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles, do they?

Matthew 7:15–16 (LEB)

When we speak about God’s instructions that He gave to mankind through ancient Israel, most of Christianity is in agreement. Most decent human beings believe that we shouldn’t steal from each other and we should not murder people. When it comes to Christianity, there are three deal breakers concerning God’s instructions.

We understand murder, stealing, bearing false witness, coveting, idolatry and adultery, ie sexual immorality, is forbidden by the ten commandments given to the twelve tribes gathered at Mount Horeb by the Creator. The path is logical: covet your neighbor’s wife, steal her, commit adultery, then murder her husband. False witness is then blaming it on someone else. King David went down this path with Bathsheba, all the way to sending her husband to battle and certain death.

The three big deal breakers, at least in Christianity, are following the dietary instructions, observing the Sabbaths and distinguishing between holy and unholy. It is my experience that these are the most despised things in Christianity.

For example, tonight I was going through some of my mother’s things, and once again, I found a small book by the evangelist Jimmy Swaggart on “cults”. He had an entire section on why Christians shouldn’t have anything to do with the Sabbath. He was just referring to the seventh day Sabbath, but there are several special sabbaths around the feast days that God called “My appointed times” that are forbidden by those trapped in the web of dispensational theology.

Leviticus 23:1–2 (LEB): 23 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the Israelites, and say to them, ‘The festivals of Yahweh that you shall proclaim are holy assemblies; these are my appointed times.

Christianity argues that these days, called “my appointed times” by the Creator, are the holidays of the Jews. It is true that the religion of Judaism has honored these days on and off since God told Moses about them, but there was no one called “Jew” at that time. There were twelve tribes of Israel, and the closest thing to a “Jew” may have been someone from the tribe of Judah. In the Bible, we first see the word “Yahudi” (translated as “Jew”) in the second temple period after the Babylonian captivity. Most of them came from the house of Judah, otherwise known as the southern kingdom.

The point is that these days were always God’s appointed times. There are other appointed times and sabbaths that were followed by those who did not regard the God of Abraham. These are the appointed times that the other nations observed while worshipping the sun, moon, and stars. These are the days that Christian holidays share with Wiccans, Druids, and sun cults. God said His people should not observe these days, nor borrow from the traditions of these days to worship Him. Trees played a massive part in these mystery religions and sun cults.

Deuteronomy 12:2–4 (LEB): You must completely demolish all of the places there where they served their gods, that is, the nations whom you are about to dispossess, on the high mountains, and on the hills and under each leafy green tree. And you shall break down their altars, and you shall smash their stone pillars, and their Asherah poles you must burn with fire, and the images of their gods you shall hew down, and you shall blot out their names from that place. You shall not worship Yahweh your God like this.

Christianity does just the opposite. It puts the unholy objects right in God’s face during the same festivals He said not to have anything to do with.

Sabbats and Feasts of “other gods”

The unclean and unholy things are mixed in with all the things of God, and His actual holy days are treated with contempt. Like, “those are old Jewish holidays, and Christians should have no part of them,” and “they are from the law; you have fallen from grace! Shame! Shame! Shame!” This was prophesied by Ezekiel and even repeated by Jesus by the term “ravenous wolves”.

Ezekiel 22:26–27 (LEB): 26 Its priests treat my law violently, and they profane my holy objects; they do not distinguish between a holy object and what is unholy, or between the clean and the unclean. They do not teach the difference, and they hide their eyes from my Sabbaths, and so I am profaned in the midst of them. 27 Its officials are like wolves tearing prey in its midst, to pour out blood, to destroy people, to make dishonest gain.

The ones teaching that there is no longer clean or unclean and that God’s Sabbaths are unimportant are likened to “wolves tearing prey” in Ezekiel.

Matthew 7:15–20 (LEB): 15 “Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits: they do not gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles, do they? 17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree is not able to produce bad fruit, nor a bad tree to produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 As a result, you will recognize them by their fruits.

Was Jesus referencing Ezekiel here? Are bad fruits mixing the holy with the profane, the clean with the unclean, and disregarding days that are very important to God? Jesus also tells us that those teaching these things, such as disregarding God’s instructions, will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:18–19 (LEB): 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one tiny letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all takes place. 19 Therefore whoever abolishes one of the least of these commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever keeps them and teaches them, this person will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Every pastor and teacher in Christianity is teaching people to abolish the least of the commandments probably two times a week at a minimum. If we consider the Sabbath, then that is hardly the least of the commandments. It is one of the ten spoken in an audible voice by God to the tribes at the mountain. Why are these words of Jesus not taken seriously? What will it mean to be “least in the kingdom”? It is complete deception. Dispensationalist theology will go as far as to say that Jesus was only speaking to the “Jews” here and none of this applies to Christians. “Its officials are like wolves tearing prey in its midst, to pour out blood, to destroy people, to make dishonest gain.

God’s Sabbaths and holy days are there for us to celebrate. We need to thank the Jews for being faithful and giving us some resemblance of the days that God called “his appointed times”. This does not mean we have to convert to Talmudic Judaism. We just need to stop following the days of other gods and take the words of Jesus seriously.

Biblical Sabbaths and Feasts

It is a complete cultural shift when one stops participating in the festivals of other gods and differentiates between the clean and unclean and the holy and profane. It becomes obvious that the Christian festivals are just borrowed from the wheel of sabbats of “gods of others,” and the Biblical festivals are shunned as “old Jewish law.” Yet we see no signs of the traditions of Christmas and Easter in the Bible unless they are talking about religions that follow different gods. Let’s not be part of Ezekiel’s prophecy and instead follow the ancient path demonstrated to us by our Messiah.
