Neighbourly Love

You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.

Leviticus 19:17

Do you love your neighbour? When asked to reduce all of the commandments of God to one, Jesus recited the Shema from Deuteronomy chapter six, which states that Yahweh is one, and we are to love him with all of our our heart, mind and actions. The second most important instruction is from Leviticus.

Mark 12:28–31 (LEB)

28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them debating. When he saw that he answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God from your whole heart and from your whole soul and from your whole mind and from your whole strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Whenever New Testament writers quote the Old Testament, we need to go read what they are referencing in context. Sadly, some may not even realize that Jesus was quoting from the Torah. The terms, New and Old Testament, are said to have been coined by Marcion, a first century heretic who wanted to distance his religion from the mean, commandment speaking God of the Old Testament. The first century followers of Jesus had only the law, prophets and writings. Here are the verses Jesus referenced as the second greatest commandment:

Leviticus 19:17–18 (LEB)

17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you shall surely rebuke your fellow citizen, so that you do not incur sin along with him. 18 You shall not seek vengeance, and you shall not harbor a grudge against your fellow citizens; and you shall love your neighbor like yourself; I am Yahweh.

Not only do these verses tell us to love our neighbour as our self, but they tell us how to love our neighbour. We need not try to redefine the love that is being spoken of here. Rebuke, do not seek vengeance, nor hold a grudge are the ways we are told to love our neighbour. We are also told not to hate our brother in our heart.

Hating our brother in our heart is self explanatory, with the exception that it implies we are doing it in secret. Pretending to love your brother while secretly hating him is hypocritical and goes against the instruction of Yahweh.

Matthew 5:21–24 (LEB)

21 “You have heard that it was said to the people of old, ‘Do not commit murder,’ and ‘whoever commits murder will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry at his brother will be subject to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, ‘Stupid fool!’ will be subject to the council, and whoever says, ‘Obstinate fool!’ will be subject to fiery hell. 23 Therefore if you present your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and first go be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your gift.

Rebuking our neighbours seems like an unlikely way to love them, but it is very important. The reason we “rebuke our fellow citizen” is so we do not incur sin along with them. Rebuking someone still does not sound very loving, but there are better words to describe what is being said. The word used for “rebuke” is Strong’s H3198.

Correct, convince, argue, and in another translation, it says to “reason frankly”. Remember the reason to do this was so that you do not incur sin with them. This is why we continually say to repent and follow the commandments! Once a person knows the way, it is their responsibility to tell their neighbours, to shine light on darkness, and not hide it under a bushel. The English Standard Version translates it like this:

Leviticus19:17 “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.

A person can incur sin by not “reasoning frankly” with their neighbour. This is one of the purposes of these blog posts. “Your pagan celebrations in the church are witchcraft to Yahweh” is an example of reasoning frankly with your neighbour. No one seems to be willing to discuss these things in person, and people mock, sabotage and ignore the message. I have heard this situation described as it being like a crowing rooster. The rooster has the crowing inside of him and has to get it out. He does not care if there is anyone to listen, or if anyone pays any attention, so long as the message gets out.

“You shall not harbor a grudge against your fellow citizens” is another important part of the instruction. It would be easy to see someone heading for destruction, warn them, be ignored or mocked, then hold a grudge against them. We cannot do this, but only hope the person will eventually understand the gravity of the situation.

Deuteronomy 4:25–31 (LEB)

25 “When you have had children and grandchildren and you have grown old in the land and you act corruptly and you make a divine image of the form of anything and you do evil in the eyes of Yahweh your God, thus provoking him to anger, 26 I call to witness against you today the heaven and the earth, that you will perish soon and completely from the land that you are crossing the Jordan into it to take possession of it; you will not live long on it, but you will be completely destroyed. 27 And Yahweh will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations to where Yahweh will lead you. 28 And you will there serve gods made by human hands, of wood and stone, gods that cannot see and cannot hear and cannot eat and cannot smell. 29 But from there you shall seek Yahweh your God and will find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 In your distress when all these things have found you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your God, and you will listen to his voice. 31 For Yahweh your God is a compassionate God; he will not abandon you, and he will not destroy you, and he will not forget the covenant of your ancestors that he swore to them.

This is all very important to consider. Tribulation is coming and hopefully people will remember these warnings. These verses are not for “the Jews”, while a lawless church is raptured into another world, as dispensational theology teaches Baptists and Pentecostals.

Isaiah 59:18–21 (LEB)

18 According to deeds, so he will repay; wrath to his enemies, requital to those who are his enemies. He will repay requital to the coastlands. 19 So they shall fear the name of Yahweh from the west, and his glory from the sunrise, for he will come like a narrow stream; the wind of Yahweh drives it on. 20 “And a redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn away from transgression,” declares Yahweh. 21 “And as for me, this is my covenant with them, says Yahweh: my spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have placed in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of your children’s children,” says Yahweh, “from now on and forever.”

The redeemer, Yeshua, called Jesus today, came and told us what to do. When He comes back we better be doing what He said.

John 14:21–26 (LEB)

21 The one who has my commandments and keeps them—that one is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, why is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and will take up residence with him. 24 The one who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me. 25 These things I have spoken to you while residing with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you.

Some try to teach that the commandments of Jesus are different than that of the Father, or Jesus did all the commandments, so we do not have to, nor should we try. This is just the heresy of Marcion revisiting the church to lead people into lawlessness. It is deception that must be rebuked, debated and corrected!

Luke 21:8 (LEB)

And he said, Watch out that you are not deceived! For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and ‘The time is near!’ Do not go after them!

This has happened in the 40,000 plus so-called Christian denominations, each with their own lawless Jesus. If your Jesus is saying something different then Yahweh, you have been deceived. Ezekiel saw the abominations in the church today, as they were in Judah.

Ezekiel 8:4–18 (LEB)

And look! There was the glory of the God of Israel like the vision that I saw in the valley. And he said to me, “Son of man, lift up now your eyes toward the north.” And I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and, look, there was to the north of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy at the entrance. And he said to me, “Son of man, “Do you see what they are doing—great detestable things that the house of Israel is committing here so as to drive me from my sanctuary, and yet you will see again greater detestable things.” And he brought me to the doorway of the courtyard, and I saw, and look! A hole in the wall. And he said to me, “Son of man, dig now through the wall.” And I dug through the wall, and look! There was a doorway. And he said to me, “Come and see the detestable things, the evil that they are doing here. 10 And I came, and I saw, and look, all kinds of creatures and detestable beasts; and all of the idols of the house of Israel were carved on the wall all around. 11 And seventy men from the elders of the house of Israel, and Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan, was standing in the midst of them, and they were standing before them. Each one had his censer in his hand, and the fragrance of the cloud of the incense was going up. 12 And he said to me, “Have you seen, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in the inner rooms of his idol, for they are saying, ‘Yahweh is not seeing us; Yahweh has abandoned the land.’ ” 13 And he said to me, “Still you will see again greater detestable things that they are doing.” 14 And he brought me to the doorway of the gate of the house of Yahweh that is toward the north, and look! There were the women sitting weeping for Tammuz. 15 And he said to me, “Have you seen, son of man? Still you will see again greater detestable things than these.” 16 And he brought me to the inner courtyard of the house of Yahweh, and look, at the doorway of the temple of Yahweh, between the portico and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of Yahweh and their faces toward the east, and they were bowing down toward the east before the sun. 17 And he said to me, “Have you seen, son of man? Was it too small a thing for the house of Judah to do the detestable things that they did here? For they filled up the land with violence, and they provoked me to anger again, and look! They are putting the branch to their nose. 18 And so I will act in rage, and my eye will not take pity, and I will not have compassion, and they will cry in my ear with a loud voice, and I will not hear them.”

Once a person understands, they must start crowing like a rooster, even if no one is listening. Perhaps someone will remember these words when tribulation comes as described in Deuteronomy, and turn back to the instructions of the Creator. Repent and believe the gospel!

The Feast of Weeks; Pentecost

And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in the same place.

Acts 2:1 (LEB)

The Feast of Weeks, Shavuot, or in Greek, Pentecost, is traditionally the feast day that celebrates the marriage covenant between Yahuah and His people at Mount Horeb. It is also the feast that believers gathering on that day received the breath of God, with tongues of fire, most commonly referred to as the Holy Spirit. Pentecost means fifty in the Greek language and this is where the “Pentecostal” churches derive their name. It is unfortunate that many of these churches do not celebrate this day, nor do they know the significance of “fifty” in relationship to the name Pentecostal or Pentecost.

Leviticus 23:15–16 (LEB)

15 “ ‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day of your bringing the wave offering’s sheaf—there shall be seven full weeks. 16 Until the day after the seventh Sabbath you shall count fifty days; then you shall present a new grain offering for Yahweh.

I have seen some cases where churches will call the Sundays leading up to Pentecost, the seven Sundays of Easter. This is an invention of man likely to avoid appearing too “Jewish” by doing anything related to the biblical Sabbath or the biblical feast days. The Feast of Weeks leading up to the fiftieth day, are counted by the seven sabbaths from the Sabbath in the Week of Unleavened Bread, which is part of the Passover celebration. We can actually see these days referred to as the first sabbath and second sabbath in scripture, but we have to use the translations that use the Textus Receptus manuscripts, such as the King James Version.

Luke 6:1 (KJV 1900)

And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

The word for the “second sabbath after the first” is Strong’s G1207, meaning the second sabbath after Passover. Most bible translations have dismissed this word and just translated it as “another sabbath”.

G1207

Thayer Definition:
1) second-first
2) the second of the first Sabbaths after the feast of the Passover

This is important because it shows us the error of some of the translations which translate “first sabbath’ to “first day of the week”. We see clearly in Acts 20:6 Paul sailed away after Unleavened Bread. Five days later they were at Troas.

Acts 20:6 (LEB)

And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread and came to them at Troas within five days, where we stayed seven days.

In Acts 20:7, we see them meeting on the first day of the week. The problem is the word “day” is not in the text, added by translators, and the word “week” is “sabbaton” in the Greek manuscripts. This should be translated the “first sabbath”. This pokes holes in the “meeting on Sunday narrative”, the church started to proclaim much later.

Acts 20:7 (LEB)

And on the first day of the week, when we had assembled to break bread, Paul began conversing with them, because he was going to leave on the next day, and he extended his message until midnight.

The word for “week” in this case is Strong’s G4521. Why would this not be translated the “first sabbath”?

G4521
σάββατον
sabbaton
Thayer Definition:
1) the seventh day of each week which was a sacred festival on which the Israelites were required to abstain from all work
1a) the institution of the sabbath, the law for keeping holy every seventh day of the week
1b) a single sabbath, sabbath day
2) seven days, a week

If we understand that Pentecost is determined by counting seven sabbaths after Passover, and the fifty days always lands on a Sunday, it will help believers, brainwashed by tradition, understand the significance of the Leviticus 23 feasts, including the sabbaths. The Creator sanctified the seventh day at creation, and there is no church leader or prophet that can twist scripture enough to unsanctify it. The opposite of “sanctify” is demonize, desecrate and pollute, which is exactly what the paganized, antisemitic churches did to the sabbaths in the beginning.

Genesis 2:1–3 (LEB)

And heaven and earth and all their array were finished. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and he sanctified it, because on it he rested from all his work of creating that there was to do.

Now that we have shown that Pentecost is not an invention of the Church, and has nothing to do with Easter, but is a feast tightly woven into the fabric of the Creator, let’s look at the significance of Pentecost. It was the time of the Feast of Weeks that Yahuah made His marriage contract with His people, the twelve tribes of Israel at Mount Horeb.

Exodus 19:1–8 (LEB)

19 In the third month after the Israelites went out from the land of Egypt, on this day they came to the Sinai desert. They set out from Rephidim, and they came to the desert of Sinai, and they camped in the desert, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain. And Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you will say to the house of Jacob and you will tell the Israelites, ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and I brought you to me. And now if you will carefully listen to my voice and keep my covenant, you will be a treasured possession for me out of all the peoples, for all the earth is mine, but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.” And Moses came and called the elders of the people, and he placed before them all these words that Yahweh had commanded him. And all the people together answered and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” And Moses brought back the words of the people to Yahweh.

This was not the first time that a covenant was made during Shavuot. The book of Jubilees, found in the caves of Qumran with our oldest transcript of Genesis, gives us a great history of the Feast of Weeks.

The Book of Jubilees translated by R. H. Charles 6:15-19

15 And He gave to Noah and his sons a sign that there should not again
be a flood on the earth.
16. He set His bow in the cloud for a sign of the eternal covenant that
there should not again be a flood on the earth to destroy it all the days of
the earth.
17. For this reason it is ordained and written on the heavenly tables, that
they should celebrate the feast of weeks in this month once a year, to
renew the covenant every year.

18. And this whole festival was celebrated in heaven from the day of
creation till the days of Noah-twenty-six jubilees
(1309-1659 A.M.) and
five weeks of years: and Noah and his sons observed it for seven jubilees
and one week of years, till the day of Noah’s death, and from the day
of Noah’s death his sons did away with (it) until the days of Abraham,
and they ate blood.
19. But Abraham observed it, and Isaac and Jacob and his children
observed it up to thy days, and in thy days the children of Israel forgot it
until ye celebrated it anew on this mountain.

The book of Jubilees is written as from angels narrating the law and history to Moses when he was on the mountain. Stephen makes reference to this in the book of Acts before he was stoned. I recommend reading the book of Jubilees because it gives a little more detail in some cases than Genesis. Most Christians will not read it because they are afraid to read any ancient texts that are not approved by the Westminster Confessions or Rabbinical Judaism.

Acts 7:53 (LEB)

53 you who received the law by directions of angels and have not observed it!

The instructions of the Creator were not first given at Mount Horeb to the “Jews”, as is falsely claimed today. God’s people were always given His instructions until they forgot them, or stopped doing them, and all twelve tribes were at Mount Horeb, not just the tribe of Judah.

Genesis 26:4–5 (LEB)

And I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven, and I will give to your descendants all these lands. And all nations of the earth will be blessed through your offspring, because Abraham listened to my voice and kept my charge: my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

The Creator, or Heavenly Father in New Testament terms, gave us His Spirit on this feast as it is recorded in the book of Acts.

Acts 2:1–4 (LEB)

2 And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in the same place. And suddenly a sound like a violent rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. And divided tongues like fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them ability to speak out.

This rushing wind is called Ruach in Hebrew. It is translated “spirit” from the Greek word Pnoe, which also means wind or breath. We get words such as “pneumatic” and “pneumonia” from the Greek word. Before this event, the disciples of Yeshua were hiding out and not very bold. Afterwards, they went out proclaiming the gospel.

John 16:7–15 (LEB)

But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and concerning righteousness and concerning judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me, 10 and concerning righteousness, because I am going away to the Father and you will see me no more, 11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. 12 I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now. 13 But when he—the Spirit of truth—comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak from himself, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will proclaim to you the things to come. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and will proclaim it to you. 15 Everything that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he takes from what is mine and will proclaim it to you.

Once again the Father ratifies His covenant with His people on Shavuot. This time it is not with the blood of animals as in the past, but the blood of Messiah and His Spirit. What effect does this have on those present? It emboldened them to start preaching repentance to the commandments of God and the good news that was bestowed on all of mankind, to be able to share in the covenants of promise with the House of Israel and the House of Judah.

Galatians 3:13–14 (LEB)

13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,” 14 in order that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

It is so twisted for Christianity to teach the curse of the law is the law itself. The curse of the law happens when one breaks the law. Romans 7:12 (LEB) ” So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good”.

Peter gives a speech after a man is healed at the time of Pentecost and everyone is wondering what is going on with people speaking in other languages and getting healed. He explains to them it is a refreshing of the covenant promised through the prophets. Yeshua did not come to start a new world religion called Christianity. He was the one called “a prophet like Moses” who would come to gather the lost sheep of the House of Israel and extend the promises to the nations. One could say the “church” started with Abraham, lost its way, then was renewed at Mount Horeb, lost its way, brought back by Yeshua and renewed. Unfortunately, the church has lost its way again just as prophesied. Yeshua will once again call His people and gather them out from where they are scattered.

Acts 3:12–26 (LEB)

12 And when he saw it, Peter replied to the people, “Men and Israelites, why are you astonished at this? Or why are you staring at us, as if by our own power or godliness we have made him walk? 13 The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied in the presence of Pilate, after he had decided to release him. 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and demanded that a man—a murderer—be granted to you. 15 And you killed the originator of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses! 16 And on the basis of faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know, and the faith that is through him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all. 17 And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also. 18 But the things which God foretold through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he has fulfilled in this way. 19 Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out, 20 so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and he may send the Christ appointed for you—Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all things, about which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from earliest times. 22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you. 23 And it will be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed utterly from the people.’ 24 And indeed, all the prophets from Samuel and all those who followed him* have spoken about and proclaimed these days. 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed.’ 26 God, after he* had raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning each of you back from your wickedness!”

On Pentecost, remember that our spiritual ancestors were delivered from slavery in Egypt at this time and instructed in the perfect ways of the Creator. His Spirit was given to write these instructions on our heart and deliver us from evil and death. Repent and believe the gospel, so that your sins can be blotted out, and a refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord!

Fear has been a driving force for a very long time thanks to talking heads fear mongering in the twenty-four hour news cycle, along with over the top authoritarian officials. Fear is not necessarily a bad emotion to possess, but what should cause us fear?

It amazes me how we fear things so much that we will shut ourselves into our houses, not associate with certain people, and hang on every word spewing from places like twenty-four hour news channels and government news briefs, yet when it comes to basic life giving instruction from the Creator of the universe, one will block their ears, mock and say such things as “I’m free from the burden of the law of God”. The instruction of God is not a burden, but life giving manna from heaven.

Lev 26:15 and if you reject my statutes and if your inner self abhors my regulations, to not carry out all my commands by your breaking my covenant,
Lev 26:16 I in turn will do this to you: then I will summon onto you horror, the wasting disease, and the fever that wastes eyes and that drains away life; and you shall sow your seed in vain, and your enemies shall eat it.
Lev 26:17 And I will set my face against you, and you shall be defeated before your enemies; and your haters shall rule over you, and you shall flee away, but there shall not be anybody who is pursuing you.
Lev 26:18 “‘And if in spite of these things you do not listen to me, then I will continue to discipline you seven times for your sins.

I was unaware how much Christians actually reject and abhor the commands and statutes of Yahuah during the forty seven years I spent in the church. Of course, it never really came up as a subject of discussion. I would have reacted negatively towards them too, because we are “free in Jesus”, or “ free in Jeeesus”, Pentecostal style. I actually did get upset at my parents for suggesting that maybe we shouldn’t be eating pork. They were ahead of me on these things, but I did not know, nor would I have understood at that time.

Let’s look at eating unclean meats as an example. As people cling to various devices to protect them from air born viruses, why are they not concerned with the viruses they are putting in their bodies from unclean meat? What about blood? I watched a chef make blood sausage on television one night and was amazed that people do this with pigs.

Lev 11:1 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
Lev 11:2 “Speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘These are the animals that you may eat from all the animals that are on the land:
Lev 11:3 Any among the animals that has a divided hoof and has a split cleft in the hoof, such you may eat.
Lev 11:4 However, these you may not eat from those that chew the cud and from those that have a divided hoof: the camel, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you;
Lev 11:5 and the coney, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you;
Lev 11:6 and the hare, because it is a chewer of cud but it does not have a hoof that is divided—it is unclean for you;
Lev 11:7 and the pig, because it has a divided hoof and has a split cleft in the hoof but it does not chew cud—it is unclean for you.
Lev 11:8 You must not eat from their meat, and you must not touch their dead body—they are unclean for you.

Are these instructions burdensome, or just good instructions about what to eat? What about eating blood? For the New Testament only crowd, the Apostles told the new converts from the nations that one of the first things they should do is stop eating blood. This is an instruction from the Torah.

Act 15:19 Therefore I conclude we should not cause difficulty for those from among the Gentiles who turn to God,
Act 15:20 but we should write a letter to them to abstain from the pollution of idols and from sexual immorality and from what has been strangled and from blood.
Act 15:21 For Moses has those who proclaim him in every city from ancient generations, because he is read aloud in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

Idols, sexual immorality and blood are top on the list for believers in Messiah coming out of the surrounding religions according to the Apostles. They ate unclean meat sacrificed to demons and had temple prostitutes. These religions were steeped in fertility rites that the modern church has also adopted. According to the apostles, the rest of the Torah will be learned, “because he [Moses] is read aloud in the synagogues on every Sabbath.” This means these are things we should fear! It also shows there was an expectation that new converts would be meeting on the Sabbath to learn about the faith.

1Co 10:14 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.
1Co 10:15 I am speaking as to sensible people; you judge what I am saying.
1Co 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
1Co 10:17 Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share from the one bread.
1Co 10:18 Consider Israel according to the flesh: are not the ones who eat the sacrifices sharers in the altar?
1Co 10:19 Therefore, what am I saying? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
1Co 10:20 No, but that the things which they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to become sharers with demons.

When we participate in festivals of other gods, such as the celebration around the winter solstice with all the greenery and candles, we “become sharers with demons”. This is exactly what Paul is speaking about as are the Apostles in Acts 15. These things have consequences that cannot be protected by personal protective equipment (PPE) or measures. The really effective PPE is worn on the inside by having a circumcised heart desiring to be obedient to the Creator.

Luk 12:4 “And I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after these things do not have anything more to do.
Luk 12:5 But I will show you whom you should fear: fear the one who has authority, after the killing, to throw you into hell! Yes, I tell you, fear this one!

What does it mean to “fear this one”? The fear of God is actually an idiom for keeping the commandments.

Deu 4:10 Remember the day that you stood before Yahweh your God at Horeb when Yahweh said to me, ‘Summon for me the people so that I can tell them my words, that they may learn to fear me all of the days they are alive on the earth and so that they may teach their children.’
Deu 4:11 And so you came near, and you stood under the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire up to the heart of the heaven, dark with a very thick cloud.
Deu 4:12 And Yahweh spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard a sound of words, but you did not see a form—only a voice.
Deu 4:13 And he declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he charged you to observe, and he wrote them on the two tablets of stone.

Your favorite news anchor will never tell anyone to fear Yahuah; however, this is a good use of fear. What does fearing God look like? It is keeping His commandments. There are no viruses that have the ability of causing a person to burn and there are no government mandated inoculations against the fire of an angry God.

Mal 4:1 “For look! The day is about to come, burning like an oven, and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says Yahweh of hosts. “It will not leave behind for them root or branch.
Mal 4:2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like fattened calves.
Mal 4:3 You will trample down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I am going to act,” says Yahweh of hosts.
Mal 4:4 “Remember the instruction of my servant Moses, which I commanded him at Horeb to all Israel, the rules and regulations.

Why is eating pork something Yahuah told us not to do? I don’t think it matters, actually. Faith is just doing it because of the character of Yahuah. If we don’t have faith in His word we will say, “What does He know? I know better, or my pastor said I don’t have to listen to Yahuah”. One can always misquote Paul’s words or Peter’s vision to justify ignoring Yahuah.

In the end, when Messiah returns, we may find out what the big deal is concerning these things he told us not to do. These verses in Isaiah concern me, and should concern everyone eating hot dogs (the swine and mouse combo) at a church barbecue when Yeshua comes back.

Isa 66:16 For Yahweh enters into judgment on all flesh with fire and his sword, and those slain by Yahweh shall be many.
Isa 66:17 Those who sanctify themselves and those who cleanse themselves to go into the gardens after the one in the middle, eating the flesh of swine and detestable things and rodents together shall come to an end!” declares Yahweh.
Isa 66:18 “And I—their works and thoughts!—am about to come to gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come and see my glory.

Yeshua came to bring us back into covenant with the Father. He didn’t change the stipulations of the covenant. The Apostles knew what a privilege it was for the whole world to have the opportunity to commune with God through Israel, by the redeeming work of Messiah. A good use of fear would be reading these sayings by our Messiah:

Mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name?’
Mat 7:23 And then I will say to them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Fear can be a debilitating emotion to overcome when it is used in the wrong application. When the world around us heaps up unnecessary fear and plays with our emotions, it can cause us to act in ways we will regret later. Healthy fear is the fear of Yahuah, who gives us the air we breath. Fear Him by doing what he told us to do! It will be an utterly dreadful day to hear, “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”.

Vines, Branches, Sticks and Trees

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him—this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything. If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and dries up, and they gather them and throw them* into the fire, and they are burned.

John 15:5–6 (LEB)

The wonderful quality that scripture possesses is that it uses imagery we all can relate to in order to explain sometimes hard to understand concepts. It is two thousand years of man made doctrine and philosophy that so often cloud our minds when we read scripture. There is a major understanding that has been left behind by Christianity, which causes a type of identity crisis in the church. This has led to such theologies as replacement theology, dispensationalism and Calvinism.

John 5:19 (LEB)

19 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing from himself except what he sees the Father doing. For whatever that one does, these things also the Son does likewise.

Yeshua (Jesus, Yahusha or Joshua) called himself the vine and the Father the Vine Dresser. This imagery should tell us we need to be “dressed” by the Father, who is both the God of the old and new testaments, by being plugged in through the vine Yeshua.

John 15:1–8 (LEB)

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. 2 Every branch that does not bear fruit in me, he removes it, and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it in order that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I in you. Just as the branch is not able to bear fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him—this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and dries up, and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is glorified by this: that you bear much fruit, and prove to be my disciples.

Remaining plugged into the vine and listening to his word means that He will listen to us. Otherwise our prayer is called an abomination.

Proverbs 28:9 (LEB)

He who turns his ear from listening to instruction, even his prayer is an abomination.

In this translation, the Hebrew word “Torah” is translated to instruction. These are not referring to any instructions, but specifically the instruction of Yahuah, the God of the Old Testament.

The vine dresser will guide us with his instruction so long as we are in the vine of Yeshua. Otherwise we are an abomination only good for kindling wood. Yeshua was called the righteous branch by Isaiah.

Isaiah 11:1–5 (LEB)

11 And a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from its roots will bear fruit And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him— a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh. And his breath is in the fear of Yahweh. And he shall judge not by his eyesight, and he shall rebuke not by what he hears with his ears. But he shall judge the poor with righteousness, and he shall decide for the needy of the earth with rectitude. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and he shall kill the wicked person with the breath of his lips. And righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

We see that this branch will come from the stump of Jesse, who was king David’s father. Yahuah does not do anything unless He first tells the prophets. Amos 3:7 (LEB) “ Surely my Lord does not do anything unless he has revealed his secret to his servants the prophets”. How do we know which prophets to listen to? They must align with the words of Yahuah. This is how we know the Sabbaths were never done away with and that we should be eating as Yah told us through Moses. A person can ignore the Sabbaths, but their religion that promotes the practice of ignoring the Sabbaths is not worshiping the God of Abraham, Yahuah (YHWH), because He told us so. Please don’t take it personally. These are the lies that have been passed down to us through religion. One of the reasons the Christian church is so easily persuaded to abandon the instructions given by the vine dresser is that they do not understand the elect people of God and why Yeshua came.

Matthew 15:24 (LEB)

24 But he answered and* said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

The House of Israel can be all twelve tribes or the ten tribes of the Northern kingdom. Most of Christianity thinks Israel is simply “the Jews” , but this is not the case. There were twelve tribes, or children of Jacob, that Yahuah made a covenant with. Ten of them broke the covenant so badly Yahuah cast them out and cut them off from the promises.

Jeremiah 3:6–10 (LEB)

6 Then Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah, the king, “Have you seen what apostate Israel has done? She has gone on every high hill and under every leafy tree and she has prostituted herself there. 7 And I thought, ‘After her doing all these things to me she will return,’ but she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. 8 And I saw that for this very reason, that on account of apostate Israel committing adultery I divorced her and gave the letter of divorce to her. Yet her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid and she went and prostituted herself also. 9 And it was because of the frivolity of her fornication that she defiled the land and committed adultery with the stone and with the tree. 10 Yet even in all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,” declares Yahweh.

Israel was referred to as an olive tree. This is important to understand when considering one’s identity in Messiah. The tree that we get grafted to as believers is the natural tree.

Jeremiah 11:15–17 (LEB)

15 What rights has my beloved in my house when she has done many wicked things? Can the flesh of holiness pass over you? For you engage in your wickedness, then you exult. 16 Yahweh called your name, ‘A leafy olive tree, beautiful with fine fruit.’ With the sound of a great storm he will set fire to it, and its branches will be good for nothing. 17 And Yahweh of hosts, the one who planted you, has spoken evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and the house of Judah, that they have done to themselves, to provoke me to anger by making smoke offerings to Baal.”

Something that angers Yahuah is making offerings to Baal. Research your favorite “Christian” holiday and it will lead right back to Baal worship. Most of the broad path Christianity is Baal worship. As I said earlier, if it is contrary to the instructions of Yahuah, it is a different god.

Paul picks up on the olive tree analogy in his letter to the Romans. He is mostly talking to the lost sheep of the house of Israel who assimilated into the nations (gentiles).

Romans 11:13–24 (LEB)

13 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Therefore, inasmuch as I am apostle to the Gentiles, I promote my ministry, 14 if somehow I may provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean except life from the dead? 16 Now if the first fruits are holy, so also is the whole batch of dough, and if the root is holy, so also are the branches. 17 Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although you were a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them and became a sharer of the root of the olive tree’s richness, 18 do not boast against the branches. But if you boast against them, you do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off in order that I could be grafted in.” 20 Well said! They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand firm because of faith. Do not think arrogant thoughts, but be afraid. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 See, then, the kindness and severity of God: severity upon those who have fallen, but upon you the kindness of God—if you continue in his kindness, for otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And those also, if they do not persist in unbelief, will be grafted in, because God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?

Yeshua was the one who made it possible for the two houses of Israel to be put back together. The northern ten tribes were mixed into the nations, thus seeding them and enabling them to be brought back. This is the blessing the world received through the Seed of Abraham, or Messiah. Much of the church is from the lost sheep of the house of Israel and does not believe Torah, many of the house of Judah, “the Jews” do not understand Messiah Yeshua.

Romans 11:2–4 (LEB)

2 God has not rejected his people, whom he foreknew! Or do you not know, in the passage about Elijah, what the scripture says—how he appeals to God against Israel? 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have torn down your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life!” 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have left for myself seven thousand people who have not bent the knee to Baal.”

This bending a knee to Baal business is very serious to the Creator. I suggest you learn His ways so you can distinguish a different god when one is presented. There is always a remnant that follows Yahuah. This is the narrow way.

The good news is that Yahuah has and is going to put the wild tree and cultivated tree together again. This is what Paul was referring to in Romans 11. What tree or vine are you plugged into?

Ezekiel 37:15–23 (LEB)

15 And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 16 “And you, son of man, take for yourself a piece of wood, and write on it, ‘For Judah and for the Israelites his associates,’ and take another piece of wood, and write on it, ‘For Joseph, the piece of wood of Ephraim and all of the house of Israel his associates.’ 17 And join them one to the other with respect to you as one piece of wood, so that they may become one in your hand. 18 When your people say to you, saying, ‘Will you not inform us as to what these actions mean for you?’ 19 Then speak to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Look! I am taking the piece of wood for Joseph that is in the hand of Ephraim and the tribes of Israel its associates, and I will put them on it, the piece of wood of Judah, and I will make them into one piece of wood, so that they be one in my hand.’ ” 20 And the pieces of wood on which you wrote will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 And speak to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Look! I am taking the Israelites from among the nations to which they went, and I will gather them from everywhere, and I will bring them to their own soil. 22 And I will make them into one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and they will all have one king as their king, and they will not again be two nations and will not again divide into two kingdoms again. 23 And they will not defile themselves again with their idols and with vile idols and with all of their transgressions, and I will save them from all of their apostasy by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them and they will be for me as a people and I, I will be for them as God.

The Hebrew word for “piece of wood” is Strong’s H6086. This is what the Abridged Brown-Driver-Briggs Lexicon has for this word:

n.m. tree, trees, wood — 1. a. a standing tree; to be felled; of vine עֵץ הַגֶּפֶן; תַּחַת כָּל־עֵץ רַעֲנָן place of illicit worship. b. coll. trees; עֵץ פְּרִי fruit-bearing trees; עֵץ הַזַּיִת olive trees; סֲבָךְ־עֵץ thicket of trees. c. pl. of trees felled for building. 2. (pl., to denote pieces [or articles] of wood) a. wood, as material; for building; כְּלִי־עֵץ article of wood. Hence b. עֵצִים = articles of wood; specif. הָעֵץ = helve of axe; esp. timbers of a house, of a city; עֵץ of pole on which bodies of slain (criminals and others) were exposed; late (in Pers.) used for executing criminals (? by hanging = gallows). c. of idols, עֵץ וָאֶבֶן; so עֵץ alone. d. (fire-)wood; esp. for sacrifices. e. אֶרֶז(הָ) עֵץ cedar-wood, used in purifications. f. פִּשְׁתֵּי הָעֵץ woody-flax, i.e. flax on the stalk.

Richard Whitaker et al., The Abridged Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew-English Lexicon of the Old Testament: From A Hebrew and English Lexicon of the Old Testament by Francis Brown, S.R. Driver and Charles Briggs, Based on the Lexicon of Wilhelm Gesenius (Boston; New York: Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1906).

Studying Hebrew has its benefits. From these definitions one sees that it was two trees that were going to be put back together, and the relationship of the tree that Yeshua was placed on to make this happen.

If we want to be part of the “elect” that will be gathered and brought back to the land, we need to repent, be plugged into the vine of Yeshua, grafted into the natural tree and to listen and do the words of the Vine Dresser, Yahuah. Do not be a branch without fruit, cut off from the natural tree, that will be gathered and burned!

The Church, Korah and a Rich Man

Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples, saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on the seat of Moses. Therefore do and observe everything that they tell you, but do not do as they do, for they tell others to do something and do not do it themselves.

W. Hall Harris III et al., eds., The Lexham English Bible (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2012), Mt 23:1–3.

What does the church, Korah and a rich man all have in common? There are other people in this group, such as Jannes and Jambres, who all had a specific trait that made them stand out. That trait is that they opposed Moses. Yeshua told his disciples to do everything the scribes and Pharisees tell them sitting on the seat of Moses. They read the words of Moses while sitting on this seat. Why would we want to oppose Moses if we are disciples of Yeshua?

Korah was a Levite and he and his sons had a serious occupation. Their job was to carry the ark of the covenant.

Numbers 3:29–32 (LEB)

29 The clan of the descendants of Kohath will encamp on the side of the tabernacle to the south. 30 The leader of his family according to the clans of the Kohathites is Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. 31 Their responsibility was the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary, with which they ministered, and the curtain, and all of its use. 32 The chief of the leaders of the Levites was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest who had oversight of those keeping the responsibility of the sanctuary.

Korah was a grandson of Kohath, son of Levi, and he decided he should not have to listen to Moses anymore.

Numbers 16:1–3 (LEB)

16 Now Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, the descendants of Reuben, took two hundred and fifty men from the Israelites, leaders of the community summoned from the assembly, renowned men, and they confronted Moses. They were assembled in front of Moses and Aaron, and they said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves! All of the community is holy, every one of them, and Yahweh is in their midst, so why do you raise yourselves over the assembly of Yahweh?”

Korah basically asked Moses, “who died and made you boss?”. People do not like answering to authority, and everyone wants to be the one in charge. Moses was a humble servant of God who was trying to follow the instructions the Creator, Yahuah, gave him.

Numbers 16:4–7 (LEB)

When Moses heard this, he fell on his face. And he said to Korah and to his entire company, saying, “Tomorrow morning Yahweh will make known who is his and who is holy, and he will bring him near to him, whomever he chooses he will bring near to him. Do this: take for yourselves censers, Korah and all of your company; tomorrow put fire in them and place incense on them before Yahweh; the man whom Yahweh chooses will be the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, sons of Levi!”

This was a group of people that did not want to take direction from Moses any more. They were rebelling against Moses and felt that they were right and God would understand their heart. What they didn’t realize, apparently, is that Moses was doing exactly what Yahuah commanded him to do.

Numbers 16:8–14 (LEB)

And Moses said to Korah, “Please listen, sons of Levi! Is it too little for you that the God of Israel set you apart from the community of Israel to allow you to approach him to do the work of the tabernacle of Yahweh, to stand before the community to serve them? 10 He has allowed you to approach him, you with all your brothers, the descendants of Levi, but yet you also seek the priesthood. 11 Therefore you and your company have banded together against Yahweh. What is Aaron that you grumble against him?”

12 Moses sent to call for Dathan and Abiram son of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come! 13 Is it too little that you have brought us from a land that flows with milk and honey to kill us in the desert, and that you also appoint yourself as a ruler over us? 14 Surely, you have not brought us to a land that flows with milk and honey, and you have not given us the inheritance of fields and a vineyard. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men? We will not come!”

Once Creator Yahuah got involved things became very clear as to who should be listening to whom and which people were put in charge by the Creator himself.

Numbers 16:18–35 (LEB)

18 So each of them took his censer, and they put fire on them, and they placed incense on them; they stood at the doorway of the tent of the assembly of Moses and Aaron. 19 And Korah summoned them, the entire community, by the doorway of the tent of assembly, and the glory of Yahweh appeared to all the community.

20 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 21 “Separate yourselves from the midst of this community, that I can destroy them in a moment.” 22 And they fell on their faces, and they said, “God, God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and you become angry toward the entire community?”

23 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the community, saying, ‘Move away from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’ ” 25 So Moses stood up and went to Dathan and Abiram; the elders of Israel followed after him. 26 He said to the community, saying, “Please turn away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you will be destroyed with all their sins.27 And so they moved away from around the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out standing at the doorway of their tents, with their wives, sons, and little children. 28 And Moses said, “In this you will know that Yahweh has sent me to do all these works; it is not from my heart. 29 If they die a natural death or if a natural fate is visited upon them, Yahweh has not sent me. 30 But if Yahweh creates something new, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up and all that belongs to them, and they go down alive to Sheol, and you will know that these men have despised Yahweh.”

31 And it happened, as soon as he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open. 32 The land opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their houses and every person that belonged to Korah and all the property. 33 They went down alive to Sheol, they and all that belonged to them, and the land covered over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly. 34 All Israel who were around them fled at their cry, because they said, “Lest the land swallow us up!” 35 And fire went out from Yahweh, and it consumed the two hundred and fifty men presenting the incense.

Opposing Moses has consequences. These men were burned up and buried alive. Before anyone left Egypt, there were two men, the sons of Balaam, who also opposed Moses, which Paul equates to opposing the truth, because Psalm 119:142 (LEB), “Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is truth.”.

2 Timothy 3:8–9 (LEB)

And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these oppose the truth, people corrupted in mind, disqualified concerning the faith. But they will not progress to a greater extent, for their folly will be quite evident to everyone, as also the folly of those two was.

This is the only place in the sixty-six book bible that Jambres and Jannes are mentioned. The Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature has this to say about Jannes and Jambres:

Jannes and Jambres are thought to have been two of the Egyptian magicians who attempted by their enchantments (לָטַים, Exo_7:22, etc.; or לְהָטַים, Exo_7:11, secret arts) to counteract the influence on Pharaoh’s mind of the miracles wrought by Moses (see Exodus 7, 8). Their names occur nowhere in the Hebrew Scriptures, and only once in the New Testament (2Ti_3:8), where Paul says no more than that they “withstood Moses,” and that their folly in doing so became manifest (2Ti_3:8-9). He became acquainted with them, most probably, from an ancient Jewish tradition, or, as Theodoret expresses it, “from the unwritten teaching of the Jews.” They are found frequently in the Talmudical and Rabbinical writings but with some variations.

We also can find an account of Jannes and Jambres in the book of Jasher:

And Phar’oh said to Mosheh, What do you require? and they answered him, saying, Yahuah Elohiym of the Ivriym has sent us to you, to say, Send forth my people that they may serve me. And when Phar’oh heard their words he was greatly terrified before them, and he said to them, Go today and come back to me tomorrow, and they did according to the word of the king. And when they had gone Phar’oh sent for Bil`am the magician and to Iannes and Iambres his sons, and to all the magicians and conjurors and counselors which belonged to the king, and they all came and sat before the king. And the king told them all the words which Mosheh and his brother Aharon had spoken to him, and the magicians said to the king, But how came the men to you, on account of the lions which were confined at the gate? And the king said, Because they lifted up their rod against the lions and loosed them, and came to me, and the lions also rejoiced at them as a dog rejoices to meet his adoniy. And Bil’am the son of Be’or the magician answered the king, saying, These are none else than magicians like ourselves.  YASHAR (JASHER) 79:25-30 את CEPHER

Jannes and Jambres’s fate is unclear. Some sources say they drowned in the Red Sea with Pharoah’s army and others have them still with their father Balaam opposing the Israelites. Either way, opposing Moses only brought them hardship and ultimately death.

In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, we find Moses being opposed indirectly. We have to infer that Moses was opposed by the rich man and his brothers by the way the parable ends.

Luke 16:19–31 (LEB)

19 “Now a certain man was rich, and dressed in purple cloth and fine linen, feasting sumptuously every day. 20 And a certain poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, lay at his gate, 21 and was longing to be filled with what fell from the table of the rich man. But even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 Now it happened that the poor man died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s side. And the rich man also died and was buried. 23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes as he*was in torment and saw Abraham from a distance, and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he called out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he could dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am suffering pain in this flame!’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you received your good things during your life, and Lazarus likewise bad things. But now he is comforted here, but you are suffering pain. 26 And in addition to all these things, a great chasm has been established between us and you, so that those who want to cross over from here to you are not able to do so, nor can they cross over from there to us.’ 27 So he said, ‘Then I ask you, father, that you send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, so that he could warn them, in order that they also should not come to this place of torment!’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; they must listen to them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent!’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

Yeshua (Jesus), through this parable, told us that those who do not listen to Moses will not listen to Him either by referring to “if someone rises from the dead”. In another place Yeshua says something similar.

John 5:46–47 (LEB)

46 For if you had believed Moses, you would believe me, for that one wrote about me. 47 But if you do not believe that one’s writings, how will you believe my words?”

Yeshua told us if we do not believe Moses then we will not be able to believe His words. That is due to the fact that Moses spoke the words of the Father, just like “a prophet like Moses”, Yeshua, also did. He said He only would say what His Father said, which is also what Moses did.

How has the church made out with “believing Moses”? My observation is that the church has opposed Moses, and not believed Moses for a very long time. Here we see Constantine, arguably the first pope, call the practices of the Jews keeping passover “destable” when they were following the instruction God gave to Moses. In a letter to the bishops who could not attend the first council at Nice, this is what Constantine wrote:

We ought not, therefore, to have anything in common with the Jews, for the Saviour has shown us another way; our worship follows a more legitimate and more convenient course (the order of the days of the week); and consequently, in unanimously adopting this mode, we desire, dearest brethren, to separate ourselves from the detestable company of the Jews, for it is truly shameful for us to hear them boast that without their direction we could not keep this feast. How can they be in the right, they who, after the death of the Saviour, have no longer been led by reason but by wild violence, as their delusion may urge them? They do not possess the truth in this Easter question; for, in their blindness and repugnance to all improvements, they frequently celebrate two passovers in the same year.

So Constantine would rather make up his own day than celebrate the Passover on the 14th of Nissan, as many did in the eastern churches, trying to obey what Yahuah told Moses.

Leviticus 23:4–7 (LEB)

“ ‘These are Yahweh’s appointed times, holy assemblies, which you shall proclaim at their appointed time. In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month at the evening is Yahweh’s Passover. And on the fifteenth day of this month is Yahweh’s Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day there shall be a holy assembly for you; you shall not do any regular work.

The church continues to oppose Moses. One of my favorite go to sources to exemplify the church opposing Moses is mega-pastor Andy Stanley. He gives us a lot of material to work with because he blatantly opposses Moses, much like Korah did in the desert. “All of the community is holy, every one of them, and Yahweh is in their midst, so why do you raise yourselves over the assembly of Yahweh?”. The following is from churchleaders.com:

Stanley, pastor of North Point Community Church in Atlanta, argues that Jesus’ new commandment—to love one another (John 13:34)—“replaced all the old commandments.” Although the 10 Commandments “played a significant role in God’s creation of the nation of Israel,” he writes, “Jesus’ death and resurrection signaled the end of that covenant and all the rules and regulations associated with it.”

The result, Stanley says, is that Christians, as “participants in the new covenant,” are “not required to obey any of the commandments found in the first part of their Bibles.” Instead, they’re “expected to obey the single command Jesus issued as part of his new covenant: As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

He adds, “While Jesus was foreshadowed in the old covenant, he did not come to extend it. He came to fulfill it.”

This is an old heresy called Marcionism, which morphed into dispensational theology, believed by many of the thousands of denominations today. Andy Stanley completely forgot that “loving your neighbor” was what Jesus called the second greatest commandment. The first is “loving God with all of your heart and mind”, which involves doing what He said to do. It just so happens Yahuah used Moses as the messenger of the instructions stating how to love Him.

Another example of the modern church still opposing Moses comes from timberlandchurch.org, a random church website I found searching the ten commandments on the internet. I only copied the first two paragraphs, they go on to say all of the nine commandments were repeated in the New Testament, so the Sabbath is the only one that does not apply today. It is all opposing Moses; as Jesus said, “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone rises from the dead.”.

From timberlandchurch.org:

The Ten Commandments are not our Savior; Jesus is! As a code of ethics, the Ten Commandments promoted allegiance to God and encouraged moral uprightness. But no man is good enough morally to save himself. We all sin (Romans 3:23), and we all need the forgiveness of sins found only in Jesus. Therefore, to be saved we must believe in Jesus as the Christ (John 8:24), repent of our sins (Acts 17:31), confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9), and be baptized in the name of the Lord for the remission of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16).

Furthermore, the Ten Commandments are no longer in effect today. The Ten Commandments were written on two tables of stone and given to the Jews at Mount Sinai when they came out of Egypt (Exodus 20:3-17). These commandments were a part of the Law of Moses and the covenant that God made with the Jews- the Jews would keep the commandments, and God would make the Jews His special people (Exodus 19:5). The law of Moses, including the Ten Commandments, was “nailed to the cross” with Christ (Colossians 2:14). In times past, God spoke to Israel through the law of Moses, but now He speaks to all men through Christ (Hebrews 1:1,2). Israel is no longer God’s chosen people, but those who are redeemed in Christ- the church- whether Jew or Gentile; they are His people (Ephesians 2:13-16).

Why does the ark of the covenant show up on the day of the Lord when the sky is ripped open and the ark is shown in the heavenly tabernacle? Is it empty, or is what is inside going to be what people are going to be judged by?

Revelation 11:19 (LEB)

19 And the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant appeared in his temple, and there were lightnings and sounds and thunders and an earthquake and large hail.

This Timberland church even adheres to replacement theology, where Israel is “no longer God’s chosen people”. These are all reasons I will no longer have anything to do with churches that preach this type of nonsense. Who is the new covenant with? The house of Israel and the house of Jacob; there is no third party called “the church”. Through God’s grace we outsiders are given the chance to be grafted into Israel and partake in their irrevocable promises, if and only if we repent.

Hebrews 8:8–9 (LEB)

For in finding fault with them he says, “Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, when I will complete a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day I took hold of them by my hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not continue in my covenant and I disregarded them, says the Lord.

We are told about this new covenant in Deuteronomy.

Deuteronomy 30:1–8 (LEB)

“And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you and you call them to mind among the nations there where Yahweh your God has scattered you, and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you today, both you and your children, with all your heart and with all your inner self, and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and he will again gather you together from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there.“Even if you are outcasts at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there he shall bring you back. And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors had taken possession of, and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors.“And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self so that you may live. And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, on those who harassed you. And you will again listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I am commanding you today.

This has not happened yet, and will not happen until the end. Yeshua alludes to this gathering of His people. Yeshua tells us this will happen after the tribulation of “those days”.

Matthew 24:30–31 (LEB)

30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other end of it.

Paul tells us that those on the outside must be grafted into the olive tree. Do not boast against the natural branches! We may be at a point of the “fullness of the gentile” in 2022 and the natural branches are getting jealous at a “foolish nation”, which appears to be the thousands of denominations that cannot agree with each other.

Romans 11:1–24 (LEB)

11 Therefore I say, God has not rejected his people, has he? May it never be! For I also am an Israelite, from the descendants of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his people, whom he foreknew! Or do you not know, in the passage about Elijah, what the scripture says—how he appeals to God against Israel? “Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have torn down your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life!” But what does the divine response say to him? “I have left for myself seven thousand people who have not bent the knee to Baal.” So in this way also at the present time, there is a remnant selected by grace. But if by grace, it is no longer by works, for otherwise grace would no longer be grace. What then? What Israel was searching for, this it did not obtain. But the elect obtained it, and the rest were hardened, just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear, until this very day.” And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, and a cause for stumbling and a retribution to them; 10 let their eyes be darkened so that they do not see, and cause their backs to bend continually.”

11 I say then, they did not stumble so that they fell, did they? May it never be! But by their trespass, salvation has come to the Gentiles, in order to provoke them to jealousy. 12 And if their trespass means riches for the world and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fullness mean?

Yeshua came preaching the gospel. He wasn’t the gospel. The fact that God raised Him from the dead is certainly the good news, or gospel. His sacrifice and resurrection made the gospel possible! Yeshua proclaimed the year of Jubilee when slaves are set free and land is returned to its owners. This is the good news. No one realized that He was working in a “kingdom of God” capacity and not an earthly capacity. What Yeshua would do would be permanent and eternal! He also had a custom of entering the synagogue on the Sabbath. Let’s be like Him! After all He is “Lord of the Sabbath”, and if the Sabbath is now nothing, then that means the people claiming this are saying the Savior of the world is the Lord of “nothing”.

Luke 4:16–21 (LEB)

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and according to his custom he entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbath and stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him, and unrolling the scroll he found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were looking intently at him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

Opposing Moses has severe consequences. Please do not believe this nonsense that anyone replaced Israel. “May it never be!”, as Paul proclaims. The idea that the righteous instructions of God were somehow “nailed to the cross” is equally as absurd. Run from this theology. These very instructions are supposed to be written on your heart if you are going to be in the new covenant with Yahuah, by the grace of God, through the sacrifice of Yeshua. Repent and beleive the gospel.

Tests can be stressful because they are many times the threshold to entering the next phase of life, a new job, or a life long desire. Driving tests, high school and university final exams, and even medical exams can all lead to fulfilling one’s dreams. What if you knew you were being tested for a phase of existence that is eternal? I am not talking about heaven or hell, such as, say a prayer and go to heaven when you die. I am talking about a test to see if you qualify to be sons and daughters of the Most High in the kingdom of God for all eternity.

Revelation 22:1–5 (LEB)

22 And he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming out from the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street, and on both sides of the river is the tree of life, producing twelve fruits—yielding its fruit according to every month—and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. And there will not be any curse any longer, and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his slaves will serve him, and they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will not exist any longer, and they will not have need of the light of a lamp and the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give light to them, and they will reign forever and ever.

The Lexham English Bible translation uses the word “slaves” where other translations use the word “servants”. These are those people who “endured until the end”, or passed the tests that many do not even realize they are partaking in. They have made it to “heaven”, which is not going to be some ethereal place that our spirits float around on clouds with the spirits of our ancestors. This is the restoration of the Garden of Eden on a new, or renewed Earth. We will have tangible, resurrected bodies and no longer have to deal with the curse caused by sin in the original Garden of Eden, dwelling with the Creator as He intended from the beginning.

In Deuteronomy we are warned that God will test us by bringing false prophets, family members or neighbors in our path to see if we loved Him enough to learn His ways, and spot someone trying to lead us astray.

Deuteronomy 13 (LEB)

13 “If a prophet stands up in your midst or a dreamer of dreams and he gives to you a sign or wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes about that he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods (those whom you have not known), and let us serve them,’ you must not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer, for Yahweh your God is testing you to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your inner self. You shall go after Yahweh your God, and him you shall revere, and his commandment you shall keep, and to his voice you shall listen, and him you shall serve, and to him you shall hold fast. But that prophet or the dreamer of that dream shall be executed, for he spoke falsely about Yahweh your God, the one bringing you out from the land of Egypt and the one redeeming you from the house of slavery, in order to seduce you from the way that Yahweh your God commanded you to go in it; so in this way you shall purge the evil from your midst.

I realize I have used these verses in my recent blog posts. It is part of the message that I have. There are specific topics I need to address and they just come out a little different each time. The message is always the same: repent and believe the gospel, for the Kingdom of God is near! Most do not realize the “gospel” or “good news” is in the first five books of the Bible. The rest of the Bible is giving us the history of the gospel, real life examples how and how not to live a righteous life, complete with consequences, and then, finally, the fulfillment and method by which the Creator, Yah, will accomplish the good news through His son Yeshua.

Yahuah made covenants with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He has to honor those covenants regarding the land and other promises He made. The children of Jacob made a covenant at Mount Horeb with Yahuah, then their children renewed it at Moab. Yahuah told them that they too would break the covenant as their fathers, and be scattered to the four corners of the Earth, but the good news, or gospel is that He will send them a prophet like Moses, restore their fortunes and destroy their enemies. This is the gospel. The gospel started in the garden of Eden when the creator told Eve her seed would crush the head of the serpent. No one knew how it would happen and even now do not realize how God used “a prophet like Moses”, His favored son, Yeshua, to accomplish this work of restoring the kingdom.

Deuteronomy 30:1–10 (LEB)

“And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you and you call them to mind among the nations there where Yahweh your God has scattered you, and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you today, both you and your children, with all your heart and with all your inner self, and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and he will again gather you together from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there. “Even if you are outcasts at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there he shall bring you back. And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors had taken possession of, and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors. “And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self so that you may live. And Yahweh your God will make you prosperous in all your undertakings, and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground abundantly, for Yahweh will again rejoice over you, just as he rejoiced over your ancestors. 10 He will do this if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandment and his statutes written in the scroll of this law and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self.

Everything about Yahuah’s promises hinge on keeping “the way of Yahweh”. This is the entire theme of scripture.

Genesis 18:18–19 (LEB)

18 Abraham will surely become a great and strong nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed on account of him. 19 For I have chosen him, that he will command his children and his household after him that they will keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice, so that Yahweh may bring upon Abraham that which he said to him.”

When we are told that Yahuah is going to send false prophets to test us, as in Deuteronomy 13, we should take this serious. It wasn’t the Pharisees, Constantine or the Council of Nicaea that lead us astray, the Illuminati or Jesuits who changed the course of the ship, but our lack of knowledge of scripture and knowing that the heart of God is for us to do what He said to do. “for Yahweh your God is testing you to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your inner self“. God has used these things to test His people to see if they would follow the false prophets or cling to His words.

Yeshua said that He only does what He sees the Father doing, and He only says what He hears the Father saying. How can we have a religious system today with all these many sects not doing what the Father does and not saying what the Father says?

John 14:24 (LEB)

24 The one who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

John 5:19–24 (LEB)

19 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing from himself except what he sees the Father doing. For whatever that one does, these things also the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything that he himself is doing. And greater works than these he will show him, so that you will be astonished. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and makes them alive, thus also the Son makes alive whomever he wishes. 22 For the Father does not judge anyone, but he has given all judgment to the Son, 23 in order that all people will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly I say to you that the one who hears my word and who believes the one who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Yeshua said that we have to believe the one who sent him in order to have eternal life. Is this not believing Yahuah’s instructions about how we should conduct ourselves? At the very least, this is Yeshua telling us He is not telling us to do anything different than the Father told us to do. He couldn’t because he would be a false prophet as per Deuteronomy 13.

I had a discussion with a person on Reddit about doing what Yahuah says verses what the church tradition tells us to do. He said that reading the Bible for ourselves is a tradition of man and we should only listen to the Holy tradition handed down through the Apostles to the “church fathers”. Is this true? If it is, then which one of the many denominations has the correct traditions? Are we supposed to sit down, shut up and do whatever a church leader says, even if it is contrary to what the Father said, and what Yeshua said? Are you willing to bet your eternal home on what one of these leaders tells you? If Yeshua said we are believe the one who sent Him, and we have to listen to Yeshua, the choice is clear.

Acts 3:22 (LEB)

22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you. 23 And it will be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed utterly from the people.’

The test is extremely difficult, but Psalm 119:165 (LEB) says, “Great peace is for those who love your law, and they do not have a cause for stumbling.”. This is the truth! The Creator handed us His oracles through the descendants of Jacob, and we will have to answer to the Creator, Yahuah, as to what we did with them. There will be no church “father” or “holy tradition” that we will be able to put blame on because, “Yahweh your God is testing you to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your inner self”. Stephen told us the oracles of God were handed down through the children of Jacob in his speech that brought a stoning upon him from the leaders. Paul echoes this truth in his letter to the Romans.

Acts 7:37–40 (LEB)

37 “This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’ 38 This is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai, and who with our fathers received living oracles to give to us, 39 to whom our fathers were not willing to become obedient, but rejected him and turned back in their hearts to Egypt, 40 saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods who will go on before us! For this Moses, who led us out from the land of Egypt—we do not know what has happened to him!’

Romans 3:1–2 (LEB)

3 Therefore, what is the advantage of the Jew, or what is the use of circumcision? Much in every way. For first, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

What will be said is the words the prophet Jeremiah said we will say in a time in the future from now. “Our ancestors have inherited only lies, vanity, and there is no profit in them”. How can this be? We failed following through with the Deuteronomy 13 test to test our teachers, prophets, churches, family and neighbors. God has tested us continually through the ages to see if anyone would love Him enough, in their inner selves, to search and do what He said to do.

How can the thousands of denominations all be wrong? It is not hard to understand if we realize they came from one group of leaders, who hated the “oracles of God handed down to the Jews”, and kept disagreeing for hundreds of years, creating new sects. For example, the Anglican church was born from the Roman Catholic church so the King of England could divorce his wife, then the Episcopal church was born from the church of England after the American revolutionary war because no one in the new republic wanted to have anything to do with England. Hardly “Holy tradition”. It is more like they just wanted to do what they wanted, which the Church of Satan openly admits with the commandment, “do what thou wilt”.

There needs to be an anchor, and I am claiming it is the living words the Father gave us, through the children of Jacob, which Yeshua, from the tribe of Judah, helped clarify. If we are doing things contrary to what Yahuah said, then we are worshiping a different God. It cannot be Yahuah because He does not change. If we claim Jesus told us to do something different than what the Father said, then he would be a false prophet and could not be the son of the God of Abraham. If the apostles or “church fathers” told us to do something different than what Yahuah said to do then they are false prophets and we shouldn’t listen to them. It is that simple. We need the confidence and knowledge of the truth of scripture to stand up and say “That’s not what the God of Abraham said to do”.

It is like a game of Simon says. Simon says “these animals are good for you to eat”, Simon says “keep my Sabbaths”, “Sunday is the Lord’s day and we should work on the Sabbath”. Whoops, Simon didn’t say. Yeshua said we need to live on every word that comes from the mouth of God when he was tempted, quoting Deuteronomy 8:3. This is a good lesson for us to follow.

Matthew 4:4 (LEB)

But he answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’ ”

Deuteronomy 8:2–3 (LEB)

And you shall remember all of the way that Yahweh your God led you during these forty years in the desert in order to humble you and to test you to know what is in your heart, whether you would diligently keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you go hungry, and then he fed you with that which you did not know nor did your ancestors know, in order to make you know that not by bread alone but by all that goes out of the mouth of Yahweh humankind shall live.

The Jesus’s presented by the many denominations today appear to be the ones that Yeshua prophesied about. One must remember that “name” means reputation and authority in both the Greek and Hebrew languages.

John 5:40–44 (LEB)

40 And you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life. 41 “I do not accept glory from people, 42 but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me. If another should come in his own name, you would accept that one! 44 How are you able to believe, if you accept glory from one another, and do not seek the glory which is from the only God?

The Jesus that supposedly says to break the Sabbath, celebrate God on days special to false deities, such as the winter solstice, has to be one coming in his own name because these things are specifically against what the Father says to do. If this Jesus supposedly declares “all foods are clean”, it is simply the Father testing you to see if you know what animals were suitable to be called food. When something the Father calls evil, is called good by a supposed Jesus, who is proclaimed by a particular denomination, it is a test to see if you studied and know the truth.

Isaiah 5:20–24 (LEB)

20 Ah! Those who call evil good and good evil, those who put darkness for light and light for darkness, those who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! 21 Ah! Those who are wise in their own eyes and have understanding in their view! 22 Ah! Heroes at drinking wine, and men of capability at mixing strong drink! 23 Those who acquit the guilty because of a bribe and remove the justice of the innocent from him. 24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will become like the stench, and their blossom will go up like the dust. For they have rejected the instruction of Yahweh of hosts, and they have treated the word of the holy one of Israel with contempt.

The more one does what the Father commanded, the more the truth with be revealed to that person. This is faith in action. Do you have enough faith to do what the father said to do? To those that have, more will be given, to those who have not, what they have will be taken away.

Luke 8:14–18 (LEB)

14 And the seed that fell into the thorn plants—these are the ones who hear and as they go along are choked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life, and they do not bear fruit to maturity. 15 But the seed on the good soil—these are the ones who, after hearing the word, hold fast to it with a noble and good heart, and bear fruit with patient endurance. 16 “And no one, after lighting a lamp, covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For nothing is secret that will not become evident, and nothing hidden that will never be known and come to light. 18 Therefore consider how you listen, for whoever has, to him more will be given, and whoever does not have, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away from him.”

If we follow His commandments, he will send a second helper called the Spirit of truth. This is in addition to the Spirit of grace, which draws you close to God, and enables you to “walk in the Spirit” as Paul teaches.

John 14:15–17 (LEB)

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world is not able to receive, because it does not see him or know him.* You know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.

John the immerser, which is the English word for the Greek word “baptist”, said the following about Yeshua:

John 1:16–17 (LEB)

16 For from his fullness we have all received, and grace after grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

Baptist, as in “John the Baptist” is a transliterated word from the Greek. The English word should be immerser. The Greek word is “baptistes”, with a small “b”. I find that an interesting side note.

Repent and believe the gospel! 2nd Timothy 2:19 (LEB) However, the solid foundation of God stands firm, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “Everyone who names the name of the Lord must abstain from unrighteousness.”

The Blood of the New Covenant

So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a person examine himself, and in this way let him eat from the bread and let him drink from the cup. For the one who eats and drinks, if he does not recognize the body, eats and drinks judgment against himself. Because of this, many are weak and sick among you, and quite a few have died.

W. Hall Harris III et al., eds., The Lexham English Bible (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2012), 1 Co 11:27–30.

We sometimes hear it said we should examine ourselves before we partake in communion. Paul also gives us the result of taking communion in an unworthy manner by saying, “Because of this, many are weak and sick among you, and quite a few have died.” How do we ensure we do not incur death and sickness by being unworthy? What does it mean to take communion in a worthy manner?

We have to look at the new covenant and the significance of the bread and wine. The covenant that Yeshua came to repair, refresh and make shiny new is the covenant Israel had with Yahuah at the base of Mount Horeb when all the people agreed to the Ten Commandments that they heard God give in an audible voice. They also agreed to the words God gave to Moses after they realized they could not bare to hear any more from Yahuah directly.

Exodus 24:3–8 (LEB)

3 And Moses came, and he told the people all the words of Yahweh and all the regulations. And all the people answered with one voice, and they said, “All the words that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” 4 And Moses wrote all the words of Yahweh, and he rose early in the morning, and he built an altar at the base of the mountain and set up twelve memorial stones for the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men from the Israelites, and they offered burnt offerings, and they sacrificed sacrifices as fellowship offerings to Yahweh using bulls. 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and he put it in bowls, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the scroll of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people, and they said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do, and we will listen.” 8 And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and he said, “Look, the blood of the covenant that Yahweh has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

In order to get an idea of what it means to partake in communion unworthily, all we have to do is see what happened a few short days after Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar and the people, sealing the covenant the people made with God. They broke the covenant by taking His name in vain, idolatry and sexual immorality. The blood sealed the covenant which gave the people “His name”. They took this name in vain as soon as they made the golden calf and “rose up to play”. Yahuah was ready to destroy the people and make a new nation from Moses. Moses interceded for the people, but there was a price to pay.

Exodus 32:7–20 (LEB)

And Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go, go down because your people behave corruptly, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt. They have turned aside quickly from the way that I commanded them; they have made for themselves a cast-image bull calf, and they bowed to it, and they sacrificed to it, and they said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.’ ” And Yahweh said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and, indeed, they are a stiff-necked people. 10 And now leave me alone so that my anger may blaze against them, and let me destroy them, and I will make you into a great nation.” 11 And Moses implored Yahweh his God, and he said, “Why, Yahweh, should your anger blaze against your people whom you brought up from the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent he brought them out to kill them in the mountains and wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger and relent concerning the disaster for your people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by yourself, and you told them, ‘I will multiply your offspring like the stars of the heavens, and all this land that I promised I will give to your offspring, and they will inherit it forever.’ ” 14 And Yahweh relented concerning the disaster that he had threatened to do to his people. 15 And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the testimony were in his hand, tablets written on their two sides; on the front and on the back they were written. 16 And the tablets, they were the work of God; and the writing, it was the writing of God engraved on the tablets. 17 And Joshua heard the sound of the people in their shouting, and he said to Moses, “A sound of war is in the camp.” 18 But he said, “There is not a sound of shouting of victory, and there is not a sound of shouting of defeat. I hear a sound of singing.” 19 And as he came near to the camp, he saw the bull calf and dancing, and Moses became angry, and he threw the tablets from his hand, and he broke them under the mountain. 20 And he took the bull calf that they had made, and he burned it with the fire, and he crushed it until it became fine, and he scattered it on the surface of the water, and he made the Israelites drink.

After this, there was essentially a show down and the tribe of Levi stood with Moses. Three thousand people died that day, and sin had entered the camp. The tabernacle was moved out from amongst the people. Moses was an example of the first high priest trying to atone for the people breaking the covenant, after they said they would do all Yahuah commanded.

Exodus 32:30–35 (LEB)

30 And the next day Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to Yahweh. Perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” 31 And Moses returned to Yahweh, and he said, “Alas, this people has sinned a great sin and made for themselves gods of gold. 32 And now if you will forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me from your scroll that you have written.” 33 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot him from my scroll. 34 And now go, lead the people to where I spoke to you. Look, my angel will go before you, and on the day when I punish I will punish them for their sin.” 35 And Yahweh afflicted the people because they had made the bull calf that Aaron had made.

We can see how the people were unworthy before God. They committed intentional, rebellious sin. The result of this type of sin is listed in the curses caused by being disobedient. Deuteronomy 28:15 (LEB), “And then if you do not listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by diligently observing all of his commandments and his statutes that I am commanding you today, then all of these curses shall come upon you, and they shall overtake you:”. Paul short listed the curses for taking the bread and wine unworthily.

1 Corinthians 11:30 (LEB)

30 Because of this, many are weak and sick among you, and quite a few have died.

The concept of a “new covenant” is exemplified with the children of those who rebelled in the desert. This should be a road map to understanding the new covenant with Yeshua. This covenant was made with new people, but with the same stipulations, blessings and curses. The Creator’s side of the covenant never changes because He doesn’t change. He doesn’t expect one thing one day and something different the next. He keeps giving new people a chance at it. One has to read Deuteronomy chapters 29 and 30 to understand completely, so I am only going to quote the highlights.

Deuteronomy 29:1 (LEB): These are the words of the covenant that Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab besides the covenant that he made with them at Horeb.

Deuteronomy 29:9–15 (LEB): 9 And you must diligently observe the words of this covenant, so that you may succeed in all that you do.
10 “You are standing today, all of you, before Yahweh your God, your leaders, your tribes, your elders, and your officials, all the men of Israel, 11 your little children, your women and your aliens who are in the midst of your camp, from the choppers of your wood to the drawers of your water, 12 in order for you to enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath that Yahweh your God is making with you today, 13 in order to establish you today to himself as a people and so that he may be for you as God, just as he promised to you and just as he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 “Now I am not making this covenant and this oath with you alone. 15 But with whoever is standing here with us today before Yahweh our God, and with whoever is not standing here with us today.

Yahuah tells the second generation at Moab that they too will break this covenant and then be scattered among the nations. Then He goes on to say that they will return and remember to do His commandments and He will write them on their hearts. This is speaking of the new covenant with Yeshua (Jesus). This is the gospel or “good news”.

Deuteronomy 30:4–16 (LEB): 4 “Even if you are outcasts at the end of the heavens, even from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there he shall bring you back. 5 And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors had taken possession of, and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors.
6 “And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self so that you may live. 7 And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, on those who harassed you. 8 And you will again listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I am commanding you today. 9 And Yahweh your God will make you prosperous in all your undertakings, and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground abundantly, for Yahweh will again rejoice over you, just as he rejoiced over your ancestors. 10 He will do this if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandment and his statutes written in the scroll of this law and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self.
11 “For this commandment that I am commanding you today is not too wonderful for you, and it is not too far from you. 12 It is not in the heavens so that you might say, ‘Who will go up for us to the heavens and get it for us and cause us to hear it, so that we may do it?’ 13 And it is not beyond the sea, so that you might say, ‘Who will cross for us to the other side of the sea and take it for us and cause us to hear it, so that we may do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, even in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may do it.
15 “See, I am setting before you today life and prosperity and death and disaster; 16 what I am commanding you today is to love Yahweh your God by going in his ways and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his regulations, and then you will live, and you will become numerous, and Yahweh your God will bless you in the land where you are going.

Paul even references this in Romans. Paul knew this was speaking of the covenant Yeshua would renew, just as in Moab. We are able to do our part through faith in Messiah and a circumcised heart. In other words, the Spirit of grace guides and convicts us if we listen. Confessing “Jesus is Lord” or Lord Jesus, as some translations say, means to be in agreement and covenant, not just believing that He exists. The demons believe He exists. The New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology says this about the Greek word homologeō, which is translated “confess”: “The legal connotation is dominant. A man agrees with another’s statement, concedes or confesses something (e.g. his guilt before a judge), agrees to something (e.g. another’s wish) and so promises. This agreement expresses itself in an act of commitment, promise, or confession in a court or legal contract.”. It is an oath we are taking part in when we take communion.

Romans 10:5–11 (LEB): 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: “The person who does this will live by it.”  6 But the righteousness from faith speaks like this: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or “Who will descend into the abyss?” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near to you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim), 9 that if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

The new covenant was new in the sense that it was ratified with Messiah’s blood instead of the blood of bulls, and once again, made with a new generation. The heart becomes circumcised through faith in Messiah and the Spirit. The terms of the covenant really are no different than the covenant originally ratified at Mount Horeb then renewed at Moab with the children of those who came out of Egypt. The people broke the covenant continually, and Yahuah promised he would make a new covenant with the house of Judah and the house of Israel, as found in Jeremiah. This is where he writes His commandments on the people’s heart instead of solely relying on the tablets of stone, or the written code. The good news, or gospel, in part, is that He opened this agreement up to the whole world due to Israel’s dispersion and seeding. When speaking of Moses sprinkling the blood on the people that we read about in Exodus, the writer of Hebrews then goes on to show how Yeshua (Jesus), sprinkled the blood on the heavenly tabernacle. Moses made a copy of what God showed him on the mountain. Yeshua went to the actual temple in heaven that Moses merely copied.

Hebrews 9:21–28 (LEB)

21 And likewise he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the utensils of service with the blood. 22 Indeed, nearly everything is purified with blood according to the law, and apart from the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. 23 Therefore it was necessary for the sketches of the things in heaven to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves to be purified with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf, 25 and not in order that he can offer himself many times, as the high priest enters into the sanctuary year by year with blood not his own, 26 since it would have been necessary for him to suffer many times from the foundation of the world, but now he has appeared once at the end of the ages for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is destined for people to die once, and after this, judgment, 28 thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

Many are confused due to the eagerness of teachers to want to be able to “rise up and play”. Yeshua (Jesus) made the final sacrifice to atone for anyone who will repent and follow Him; however, He did not “nail the ten commandments to the cross” as many falsely teach. The commandments are what are written on our hearts through the Spirit of grace Messiah sent to those who repent and believe. Currently, there is no high priest on earth to go into the inner part of the tabernacle once a year on the day of atonement. It is not needed now because Messiah performed this once and for all, “at the end of the age”, in the heavenly tabernacle. Our part to play in the new covenant is to keep the commandments. Do you suppose that when we drink from the cup it represents the sprinkling of blood on us whereby we are then connected to the heavenly tabernacle and the Father through the connection of the blood of the Messiah? I believe this is the image we see. We are “washed in the blood”.

Hebrews 10:19–25 (LEB)

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence for the entrance into the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way which he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us approach with a true heart in the full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who promised is faithful. 24 And let us think about how to stir one another up to love and good works, 25 not abandoning our meeting together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging each other, and by so much more as you see the day drawing near.

Before anyone could enter the tabernacle on earth, or meet with God, they had to wash. Hence the need for immersion (baptism).

Exodus 40:30–32 (LEB)

30 And he placed the basin between the tent of assembly and the altar, and he put there water for washing. 31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet from it. 32 At their going into the tent of assembly and at their approaching the altar, they washed, as Yahweh had commanded Moses.

We see that the writer of Hebrews follows up with a serious warning against deliberate, rebellious sin. What is sin defined as other than breaking the commandments of God? Under the old covenant, with sacrificial law, rebellious sin witnessed by two or three people, such as adultery, murder, idolatry or Sabbath breaking, was a cause for stoning and death. “How much worse punishment do you think the person will be considered worthy of who treats with disdain the Son of God and who considers ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy and who insults the Spirit of grace?”.

Hebrews 10:16–29 (LEB)

26 For if we keep on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that is about to consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment do you think the person will be considered worthy of who treats with disdain the Son of God and who considers ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy and who insults the Spirit of grace?

John tells us sin is transgression of the law, or lawlessness, but which law? All through the Bible we are told how to live a life in God’s righteousness. We receive blessings not curses when we love His righteous instructions.

1 John 3:4–6 (LEB)

Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that that one was revealed in order that he might take away sins, and in him there is no sin. Everyone who resides in him does not sin. Everyone who sins has neither seen him nor known him.

Does this mean we stone our children when they are rebellious or sacrifice a bull in our back yard? Of course not. The system of sacrificial law is not on earth currently, and those laws were for leaders and priests. It was only added because of sin.

Galatians 3:19–22 (LEB)

19 Why then the law? It was added on account of transgressions, until the descendant should come to whom it had been promised, having been ordered through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now the mediator is not for one, but God is one. 21 Therefore is the law opposed to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, certainly righteousness would have been from the law. 22 But the scripture imprisoned all under sin, in order that the promise could be given by faith in Jesus Christ to those who believe.

Through faith in Messiah we are able to confess our sins, be forgiven and walk in the light. If we keep returning to intentional sin, or continually live with rebellious sin in our lives, we are walking in darkness and show that we do not know the Son or His Father that sent Him.

1 John 1:5–2:6 (LEB)

5 And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we do not have sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our* sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 2 My little children, I am writing these things to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one, 2 and he is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 The one who says “I have come to know him,” and does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in this person. 5 But whoever keeps his word, truly in this person the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in him. 6 The one who says that he resides in him ought also to walk just as that one walked.

The bread and the wine are symbols of sealing the covenant we now have through Messiah. It is made with a better sacrifice. John 6:56, “The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me and I in him.”. His flesh is the living Word, and His blood sealed the covenant.

Hebrews 13:20–21 (LEB)

20 Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with every good thing to do his will, carrying out in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever. Amen.

Should we not listen to Messiah and keep the terms of the eternal covenant as He taught? So that, “the God of peace…equip you to do his will…what is pleasing before him through Jesus…”. It does not get any more clear. Yeshua helps us understand and do the will of the Father, which are His laws, statutes and precepts. He also gave us His Spirit to bring to remembrance everything He said. This is the beginning of writing the commandments on our hearts! Therefore, repent and believe the gospel!

Understanding the Law of Christ

Brothers, even if a person is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of humility, looking out for yourself, lest you also be tempted. Carry the burdens of one another, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:1–5 (LEB):

What is different about the law of Christ? Some will claim the “law of Christ” means we are able to ignore the instructions of the Father and just accept everything that the fallen world gives us inclusively, never worrying about the words and warnings of scripture, because we all “believe in Jesus”. This theology will eventually lead us to a “Drag me to church” event as the Lutheran church is having in the flyer below, copied from my Twitter feed.

If this is your idea of the law of Christ that Paul is speaking about, I strongly suggest that you reconsider the matter. The Holy Spirit is the only one that can convict your heart though.

We have been deceived and handed over to a strong delusion. It starts with blending the worldly festivals of other gods, such as church sponsored egg hunts for the spring goddess Easter, trunk or treats or putting groves (Christmas trees) in the church at the festival of the winter solstice (Christmas), then eventually, over several years, leads to a “Drag me to church” event.

Is this the “law of Christ” or is this what it looks like to be “unhitched” from the Old Testament as mega-pastor Andy Stanley teaches? No, this is not the “law of Christ” in action, and yes, this is what the doctrine of throwing out the Old Testament, that is God’s instructions how to conduct ourselves to be pleasing to Him, appears when brought to its end. Let’s look at the “law of Christ” and what it means.

Here are the verses from Galatians in context, Galatians 6:1–5 (LEB):

6 Brothers, even if a person is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of humility, looking out for yourself, lest you also be tempted. 2 Carry the burdens of one another, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something although he is nothing, he is deceiving himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in someone else. 5 For each one will carry his own burden.

Understanding the law of Christ is understanding this: “Brothers, even if a person is caught in some trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of humility”. This is loving your neighbour as yourself.

Also, Yeshua (Jesus) removed the need for sacrificial law. I am talking about the part where someone who is caught in a trespass of sin requiring stoning under the law. The apostles all still brought their offerings to the temple long after the death and resurrection of Yeshua. There were offerings for uncleanness, unintentional sin and for feast days, but there were no offerings for such things as murder, adultery or idolatry. The collective sin that the high priest made atonement for on the day of atonement, had to be done each year. Even if a person never committed any of these sins and was righteous according to the law, that person would still die and be guilty due to the sin of Adam. Yeshua made one sacrifice, forever, that took care of this sin and conquered death.

Hebrews 7:11–22 (LEB)

11 Thus if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood, for on the basis of it the people received the law, what further need is there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek and not said to be according to the order of Aaron? 12 For when the priesthood changes, of necessity there is a change of the law also. 13 For the one about whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe from which no one has officiated at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord is a descendant of Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses said nothing concerning priests. 15 And it is still more clear, if another priest according to the likeness of Melchizedek arises, 16 who has become a priest not according to a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is testified,

“You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

18 For on the one hand a preceding commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness 19 (for the law made nothing perfect), but on the other hand there is the introduction of a better hope through which we draw near to God. 20 And by as much as this was not without an oath (for these on the one hand have become priests without an oath, 21 but he with an oath by the one who said to him,

“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind,

‘You are a priest forever’ ”),

22 by so much more Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

The confusion lies so often with the changing of the Levitical priest system and people teaching that this is the whole of the law of God that “has been nailed to the cross”. The writer of Hebrews makes it clear, and one has to study that letter to understand sacrificial law is temporarily (“set aside”) removed, but the righteous instructions of Yahuah still stand and are our part of the covenant. I say that sacrificial law is temporarily removed because Yeshua is only a priest in the heavenly tabernacle and will not be a priest when he rules as king on earth during the Millennial reign with the future temple Ezekiel describes.

Hebrews 7:14 (LEB)

14 For it is evident that our Lord is a descendant of Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses said nothing concerning priests.

As I mentioned, Yeshua reminded us of the second greatest commandment for a reason. He knew that He was going to give the final offering as an atonement for sins that normally required stoning, by giving His life. Just as Paul stated, if someone is found in a trespass, that is breaking the commandments of God, one who is spiritual, the opposite of carnal or fleshly, should restore that person in humility.

Matthew 22:34–40 (LEB):

34 Now when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they assembled at the same place. 35 And one of them, a legal expert, put a question to him to test him: 36 “Teacher, which commandment is greatest in the law?” 37 And he said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets.”

The first greatest commandment according to Yeshua was called the Shema, and it is found in Deuteronomy chapter six.

Deuteronomy 6:4–9 (LEB)

4 “Hear, Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is unique. 5 And you shall love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your might. 6 And these words that I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. 7 And you shall recite them to your children, and you shall talk about them at the time of your living in your house and at the time of your going on the road and at the time of your lying down and at the time of your rising up. 8 And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as an emblem between your eyes. 9 And you shall write them on the doorframe of your house and on your gates.

The second greatest commandment quoted by Yeshua is found in Leviticus chapter nineteen.

Leviticus 19:15–18 (LEB)

15 “ ‘You shall not do injustice in judgment; you shall not show partiality to the powerless; you shall not give preference to the powerful; you shall judge your fellow citizen with justice. 16 You shall not go about with slander among your people; you shall not endanger your neighbor’s life; I am Yahweh.
17 “ ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you shall surely rebuke your fellow citizen, so that you do not incur sin along with him. 18 You shall not seek vengeance, and you shall not harbor a grudge against your fellow citizens; and you shall love your neighbor like yourself; I am Yahweh
.

Yeshua was upholding the words given to the entire church that was at the base of Mount Horeb when Yahuah spoke the Ten Commandments in an audible voice. The people told Moses they could not bare to hear the voice of God and they thought they were going to die. So, Yahuah told them to go back to their tents and he gave Moses the rest of the instructions. This is important to understand.

Deuteronomy 5:22–33 (LEB) 22 “These words Yahweh spoke to your whole assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire and the very thick cloud with a loud voice, and he did not add anything, and then he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me. 23 And then when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, and as the mountain was burning with fire, and all the heads of your tribes and your elders approached me, 24 you said, ‘Look, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice from the midst of the fire; this day we have seen that God can speak with a human being, yet he remains alive. 25 And so then why shall we die, for this great fire will consume us if we continue to hear the voice of Yahweh our God any longer, and so we shall die? 26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire as we have heard it and remained alive? 27 You go near and hear everything that Yahweh our God will say; and then you tell us all that Yahweh our God tells you, and we will listen, and we will do it.’
28 “And Yahweh heard the sound of your words when you spoke to me, and Yahweh said to me, ‘I have heard the sound of the words of this people that they have spoken to you; they are right with respect to all that they have spoken. 29 If only they had such a mind’; that is, to fear me and to keep all my commandments at all times, so that it will go well for them and for their children forever. 30 Go! Say to them, “Return to your tents.” 31 But you stand here with me, and let me tell you all of the commandments and the rules and the regulations that you shall teach them, so that they may do them in the land that I am giving to them to take possession of it.’
32 “So you must be careful to do just as Yahweh your God commanded you; you shall not turn to the right or to the left. 33 In exactly the path that Yahweh your God has commanded, you must go, so that you may live and it will go well for you and you may live long in the land that you will take possession of.”

When Yeshua recited the Shema, “Hear, Israel, Yahweh our God, Yahweh is unique. And you shall love Yahweh your God with all of your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your might”, He was referring to what Yahuah gave to the people at Mount Horeb in an audible voice and through Moses. These were the instructions to live a good life in the presence of Yahuah.

The second commandment involves how we treat people and what to do when they transgress the instructions from the first greatest commandment. Rebuking your brother when they sin is much different than bringing them to be stoned as one of the two to three witnesses. Sin is transgression of the law as explained in the letters of John. Yeshua showed us this with the woman caught in adultery. However, they did not have the man, which is required, or two to three witnesses. This is how they were testing him. He could have said get two or three witnesses and the guilty man, but he didn’t. He shut the whole scene down quite easily by reminding everyone there was no one without sin. He showed us the “law of Christ”.

John 8:3–11 (LEB)

3 Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought to him a woman caught in adultery. And standing her in their midst, 4 they said to him, testing him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery! 5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 (Now they were saying this to test him, so that they would have an occasion to bring charges against him.) But Jesus, bending down, began to write with his finger on the ground, taking no notice. 7 And when they persisted in asking him, straightening up he said to them, “The one of you without sin, let him throw the first stone at her!” 8 And bending down again, he wrote on the ground. 9 Now when they* heard it,* being convicted by their conscience, they began to depart,* one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone—and the woman who was in their midst. 10 So Jesus, straightening up and seeing no one except the woman, said to her, “Where are those accusers of yours? Does no one condemn you?” 11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” So Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.”

The theme of these commandments is “mercy not sacrifice”. Yeshua told us to go learn what that means, and He said this in a couple places. First when the Pharisees accused him of dining with sinners, and second, when the Pharisees accused him of breaking the Sabbath.

Matthew 9:10–13 (LEB)

10 And it happened as he was dining in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners were coming and dining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And when they saw it, the Pharisees began to say to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 And when he heard it, he said, “Those who are healthy do not have need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what it means, “I want mercy and not sacrifice.” For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 12:6–8 (LEB)

6 But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here! 7 And if you had known what it means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

Yeshua was quoting the prophet Hosea.

Hosea 6:1–7 (LEB)

6 Come, let us return to Yahweh; because it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck us down and will bind us up. 2 He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live in his presence.
3 Let us know, let us press on to know Yahweh;
his rising is sure like the dawn.
He will come like the showers to us,
like the spring rain that waters the earth.
4 What will I do with you, O Ephraim?
What will I do with you, O Judah?
Your love is like a morning cloud,
like the dew that goes away early in the morning.
5 Therefore, I have hewn them by the prophets;
I have killed them by the words of my mouth,
and my judgment goes forth like the light.
6 Because I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice,
and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
7 But like Adam, they transgressed the covenant;
there they dealt faithlessly with me.

The Hebrew word for “steadfast love” means joint obligation, mercy, faithfulness, loyalty, and kindness. Yeshua would likely be quoting using this Hebrew word. Church father Origen tells us the gospel of Matthew was originally written in Hebrew. Everyone needs to take time to “go learn what this means”.

Loyal love and mercy

Yeshua was referencing the chapter in Hosea referring to raising Him up on the third day so that we can live in the presence of Yahuah! This is the law of Christ! Show steadfast love for the Father, Yahuah, by the knowledge of God and His instructions, which is the Shema, and have mercy, loving your neighbor as yourself. Yahuah does not desire burnt offerings and sacrifices, such as the endless cycle, sin, sacrifice for sin and repeat. He wants us to learn not to sin, and Yeshua came to give us the means to do this. Acts 3:19–20 (LEB), “Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and he may send the Christ appointed for you—Jesus”.

Yeshua also reminded us not to sin in our minds either. When we have the Spirit of grace convicting our heart, it makes this easier. This is an old commandment elevated to a place of importance by Yeshua.

Deuteronomy 30:1–3 (LEB)

“And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you and you call them to mind among the nations there where Yahweh your God has scattered you, and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you today, both you and your children, with all your heart and with all your inner self, and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion upon you, and he will again gather you together from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there.

This prophecy is speaking of a time in the future when the scattered tribes would return to Yahuah and things will be restored. It is Millennial kingdom language because all the tribes have clearly not been gathered from all the peoples where they were scattered yet. We have some from the tribe of Judah in the nation state of Israel, but there are many more still scattered from all of the tribes. Yeshua explains what listening to His voice with the inner self means.

Matthew 5:17–23 (LEB)

17 “Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one tiny letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all takes place. 19 Therefore whoever abolishes one of the least of these commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever keeps them and teaches them, this person will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Clearly “fulfill” does not mean “end” as some try to tell us. Fill up, complete and accomplish are other meanings for the Greek word translated “fulfill”, Strong’s G4444. Murdering someone in our heart carries the same penalty as literal murder. If we were to read further, we would see the same theory applies to adultery. “All your inner self” is serious business.

Concerning the law of Christ, we should also define grace properly. It is through the Spirit of grace that we are able to have our heart influenced by God. It is not a blank check for rebellious sin. Salvation is a free gift, through divine favor, that makes it possible to be in covenant with the God of Israel, creator of the universe, through the offerings of our high priest, Yeshua, in the heavenly tabernacle. Therefore, we don’t want to make the same mistakes of sin, sacrifice and repeat. A Pocket Lexicon to the Greek New Testament defines grace as follows:

χάρις (in early Greek literature, gracefulness, graciousness; favour; a favour; gratitude; χάριν as above: in LXX especially of the favour which an inferior finds in the eyes of his superior), (a) grace, as a gift or blessing brought to man by Jesus Christ, John 1:14-17.

Alexander Souter, A Pocket Lexicon to the Greek New Testament (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1917), 281.

John 1:14–17 (LEB)

14 And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified about him and cried out, saying, “This one was he about whom I said, ‘The one who comes after me is ahead of me, because he existed before me.’ ” 16 For from his fullness we have all received, and grace after grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.

Therefore, grace is a gift of divine favor through Yeshua. The Spirit of grace is this favor influencing the heart of the believer. We see the same word “fullness” (G4444) used in John 1:16 as in Matthew 5:17. Yeshua’s fullness is like that of someone manning a ship, bringing it to its full potential. As the writer of Hebrews states, we cannot treat this gift as something ordinary, by living in rebellious sin, which insults the Spirit. For example, if someone gave you a beautiful furniture set because they knew your living room was empty, then they came to your house to find the furniture sitting outside in the cardboard boxes, ruined from the weather, we would expect them to be insulted. The expectation was that the furniture would be put to good use. It is not that they were looking for repayment, or anything in return for the furniture. It was a gift; however, it was treated with disdain.

Hebrews 10:26–29 (LEB)

26 For if we keep on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that is about to consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment do you think the person will be considered worthy of who treats with disdain the Son of God and who considers ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy and who insults the Spirit of grace?

This grace from the Father through Yeshua is the ability for us to be part of a covenant with the Father. It is a gift because there is nothing we can do of our own doing to be part of this covenant. The expectation is that we take the terms of the covenant seriously.

In my many years belonging to evangelical, protestant churches, the formula was to say a prayer then be “saved”, when it should be a lifestyle of commitment to the Father’s wishes, not necessarily to the church’s traditions. We were given this gift, why not bring it to its fullest potential?

Ephesians 2:12–13 (LEB)

12 that you were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope, and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you, the ones who once were far away, have become near by the blood of Christ.

The covenants of promise that we are “brought near to” were given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Yahuah is allowing outsiders to be part of His big plan to restore the kingdom, and He did it through Yeshua. This is more than being just “saved”, it is being adopted as sons and daughters of the most High.

Revelation 21:5–8 (LEB)

5 And the one seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new!” And he said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water from the spring of the water of life freely. 7 The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son. 8 But as for the cowards and unbelievers and detestable persons and murderers and sexually immoral people and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their share is in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death.

Learn the law of Christ, be imitators of God in all righteousness and truth, and how through His spirit, we can learn His righteousness in our lives. Repent, and “go and sin no more”.

Importance of the Sabbaths and the Kingdom of God

“Remember the day of the Sabbath, to consecrate it. Six days you will work, and you will do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God; you will not do any work—you or your son or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your animal, or your alien who is in your gates— because in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and on the seventh day he rested. Therefore Yahweh blessed the seventh day and consecrated it.

Video of blog post

I am amazed how Christendom has fulfilled prophecy by forgetting the Sabbath. When the Creator said, “Remember the day of the Sabbath”, by default He was telling us we would forget. The church has not only forgotten the Sabbath, but they abhor it! Listen to mega-pastor, John MacArthur misrepresent the ten commandments by saying there really are only nine. He is telling us God did not mean what He said when he spoke to the church at Mount Horeb in an audible voice. This is apostasy at the highest level.

https://www.gty.org/library/questions/QA37/do-the-ten-commandments-apply-to-christians-today

I do not mean to single out John MacArthur for any other reason than he provided us with a perfect sound bite for the purposes of this blog post. It is representative of the belief systems in much of Christianity. We know this belief is completely wrong, even though it is very popular, because Yahweh told us how to recognize a false prophet. Also: Matthew 7:14 (LEB), “Because narrow is the gate and constricted is the road that leads to life, and there are few who find it!”. Telling us there are only nine commandments and the day sanctified by Yahuah is no longer holy, is the definition of a false prophet.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 (LEB)

Under the Levitical priestly system of government and sacrificial law, people convicted of telling us to do something other than the commands of Yahweh, would be executed. Yahusha brought attention to the commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” and rebuke the person not to incur sin. This is the way we must handle these false prophets now, by rebuking them. The system of government that uses the Torah for a constitution simply does not exist, and we are thankful that we do not get executed now for breaking these commands and have a way to repent through the Messiah.

Leviticus 19:17–18 (LEB)

17 “ ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you shall surely rebuke your fellow citizen, so that you do not incur sin along with him. 18 You shall not seek vengeance, and you shall not harbor a grudge against your fellow citizens; and you shall love your neighbor like yourself; I am Yahweh.

The ark of the covenant holds the tablets on which the Creator wrote the ten commandments with His own finger. The ark Moses made was a copy of what he saw in the heavenly temple, or the pattern he was shown on the mountain, as everything else Moses constructed for the tabernacle.

Deuteronomy 10:1–5 (LEB)

“At that time Yahweh said to me, ‘Carve for yourself two tablets of stone just as the former ones, and come up the mountain to me, and you shall make for yourself an ark of wood. And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you smashed, and you must put them in the ark.And so I made an ark of acacia wood, and I carved two tablets of stone like the former ones, and I went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. And he wrote upon the tablets according to the first writing, the ten words that Yahweh spoke to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly, and Yahweh gave them to me. And I turned, and I came down from the mountain, and I put the tablets in the ark that I had made, and they are there, just as Yahweh commanded me.

Exodus 25:40 (LEB)

40 And see and make all according to their pattern, which you were shown in the mountain.

In the Revelation of John, we are shown that the curtain is pulled back and the ark of the covenant is revealed in the heavenly tabernacle. According to John MacArthur and most of Christianity today, if we could look in the heavenly ark of the covenant, it will either be empty, or it will have the fourth commandment crossed out on the tablets inside. Does this not sound ridiculous considering the sovereignty of God? This takes place at the time the kingdom of God physically merges with the world. The ark of His covenant did not go anywhere. This is the covenant Yahusha reinstated and refreshed with the bread and the wine, his body and blood. It did not go away and everyone will see this on the day of the seventh trumpet.

Revelation 11:15–19 (LEB)

The Blowing of the Seventh Trumpet

15 And the seventh angel blew the trumpet, and there was a loud voice in heaven saying,“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders who are seated on their thrones before God fell down on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying, “We give thanks to you, Lord God All-Powerful, the one who is and the one who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. 18 And the nations were angry, and your wrath has come, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to give their* reward to your slaves the prophets and to the saints and to the ones who fear your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”19 And the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant appeared in his temple, and there were lightnings and sounds and thunders and an earthquake and large hail.

This shows that the ark of the covenant is going to be present at the judgement. It is the theme of the whole Bible. Mark 1:15, “and saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”. The gospel, or good news, is that we can repent and be forgiven. We have to repent for breaking the covenant, then stop breaking the words of the covenant. In other words, stop sinning.

Who has the authority to erase a commandment and change the mode of worship to a different day? Man does not and it is replacing the commandment of God with the tradition of men. The idea of tradition being equal to scripture is a tenant of the Catholic church and obviously Protestant churches as well. The following excerpt is proof from The Catechism of the Catholic Church. This book was written to explain the doctrine of the Catholic church by Pope John Paul II.

81 “Sacred Scripture is the speech of God as it is put down in writing under the breath of the Holy Spirit.” (113)

“And [Holy] Tradition transmits in its entirety the Word of God which has been entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit. It transmits it to the successors of the apostles so that, enlightened by the Spirit of truth, they may faithfully preserve, expound, and spread it abroad by their preaching.”

82 As a result the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation is entrusted, does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence.”

Catholic Church, Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd Ed. (Washington, DC: United States Catholic Conference, 2000), 26.

Did everyone know this about the church? I realize this is the Catholic statement of doctrine, but John MacArthur essentially said the same thing in the audio clip I played. Yahusha addressed the problem of replacing the commandments of God with the traditions of men. He upbraided the Pharisees for the same error the church has committed by doing this.

Mark 7:1–8 (LEB)

7 And the Pharisees and some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered to him. And they saw that some of his disciples were eating their bread with unclean—that is, unwashed—hands. (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands ritually, thus* holding fast to the traditions of the elders. And when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions* which they have received and* hold fast to—for example, the washing of cups and pitchers and bronze kettles and dining couches.) And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unclean hands?” So he said to them, “Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far, far away from me. And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Abandoning the commandment of God, you hold fast to the tradition of men.”

The explanation about how there are really only nine commandments is common in Christianity today. Celebrating the “Lord’s Day” on Sunday and ignoring the Sabbath commandment is exactly the same as the Pharisees upholding their traditions over the commandments of God. James tells us if we break one commandment, we are guilty of breaking them all. There is absolutely no scripture telling us that we can ignore one of the commandments of the covenant and replace it with something different.

James 2:10–12 (LEB)

10 For whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles in one point only has become guilty of all of it. 11 For the one who said “Do not commit adultery” also said “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 Thus speak and thus act as those who are going to be judged by the law of liberty.

The Lexham Bible dictionary has the following to say about the Sabbath day:

In Mark 2:27, Jesus utters the phrase “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.” The phrase brings two primary points into focus:

  1. The Sabbath regulations, as interpreted by the Pharisees, had lost the intent of the Sabbath prescribed in the Old Testament. Therefore, the rules they observed were human made, not God made, and able to be broken.
  2. The Sabbath proclaimed at creation was intended to serve mankind as a holy day, giving blessing, and observing God’s rest/restoration.
Nothing of Jesus’ or His disciples’ actions were contrary to the purpose and intent of the Sabbath observance. As such, Jesus was not rewriting the law, but fulfilling and clarifying the original law as described in the Pentateuch, Historical Books, and the Prophets.

What if the tradition of the “Lord’s Day”, not spoken about in scripture, and the forgetting of the Sabbath is completely wrong, as I maintain that it is? “Did God indeed say, ‘You shall not eat from any tree in the garden’?” This is the same type of deception that the serpent was able to turn the cosmos back to chaos.

Not only is the Sabbath one of the ten most important instructions given to us by the Creator, Yahuah; it is also a sign between Him and His people. Do you consider yourself one of God’s people?

Exodus 31:12–18 (LEB)

12 And Yahweh spoke to Moses and said, 13 “And you, speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘Surely you must keep my Sabbaths, because it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, in order to know that I am Yahweh, who consecrates you. 14 And you must keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you; defilers of it will surely be put to death, because anyone who does work on it—that person will be cut off from among his people. 15 On six days work can be done, and on the seventh is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy day for Yahweh; anyone doing work on the Sabbath day will surely be put to death. 16 The Israelites will pay attention to the Sabbath in order to fulfill the Sabbath throughout their generations as a lasting covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the Israelites forever, because in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh he ceased and recovered.” 18 And when he finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, he gave to Moses the two tablets of the testimony, stone tablets, written with the finger of God.

When you come into covenant with the Creator through the blood of Messiah Yahusha, you are grafted in to the commonwealth of Israel. The only way this is possible is by Yahusha having taken away the enmity between us and the Father. The law was written against us and we had no hope of reconciliation with the Father.

Ephesians 2:11–22 (LEB)

11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, the so-called uncircumcision by the so-called circumcision in the flesh, made by hands, 12 that you were at that time apart from Christ, alienated from the citizenship of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope, and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you, the ones who once were far away, have become near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of the partition, the enmity, in his flesh, 15 invalidating the law of commandments in ordinances, in order that he might create the two in himself into one new man, thus* making peace, 16 and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, killing the enmity in himself. 17 And coming, he proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to the ones who were near, 18 because through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 Consequently, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are built up together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Yahusha, commonly referred to as Jesus, gave us instructions about the Sabbath. The religion of Judaism, practiced by the Pharisees, had heaped many burdens on people concerning keeping the Sabbath. It was no longer a day of spiritual and physical rest, but it became a checklist that had to be strictly adhered to by the people. Why would Messiah clarify the proper way to keep the Sabbath if it was no longer something to be concerned with? Why does John MacArthur falsely say that the Sabbath commandment was not restated in the New Testament? Does Messiah instructing us on what is permitted on the Sabbath not contradict this statement? Why do people not read about it themselves and let false teachers lead them astray?

Matthew 12:9–13 (LEB)

And going on from there he came into their synagogue. 10 And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying, “Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?” in order that they could accuse him. 11 But he said to them, “What man will there be among you who will have one sheep and if this one fell into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it* out? 12 Then to what degree is a man worth more than a sheep? So then, it is permitted to do good on the Sabbath.13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand,” and he stretched it* out, and it was restored as healthy as the other one.

The writer of Hebrews tells us there is still a Sabbath rest for us. The word which means “Sabbath rest” is almost always translated as simply “rest”, but we have the tools available to us now to look at the original languages to see what is really being said.

Hebrews 4:8–13 (LEB)

For if Joshua had caused them to rest, he would not have spoken about another day after these things. Consequently a sabbath rest remains for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered into his rest has also himself rested from his works, just as God did from his own works. 11 Therefore, let us make every effort to enter into that rest, in order that no one may fall in the same pattern of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, both joints and marrow, and able to judge the reflections and thoughts of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden in the sight of him, but all things are naked and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we must give our account.

The word used for “Sabbath rest” is a Greek word that means “Sabbath rest”. It is clear that we are to be obedient, not as the ones who were disobedient, gathering sticks on the Sabbath. Usually a Greek word has several translations and can mean the same as a few related words. This word for “sabbath rest” has no alternative meaning and to translate it simply as “rest” is misleading.

The Greek word that means “Sabbath rest”

Who could be the one behind the trickery of making God’s people think that the Sabbath is no longer valid? It must be someone who does not want Christians to reap the benefits of a day of rest. Someone who wants to drive a wedge between Yahuah and His people. Unfortunately, there are many willing accomplices with the adversary called satan in the Hebrew language.

Ezekiel 20:10–14 (LEB)

10 And I brought them out from the land of Egypt, and I brought them to the desert, 11 and I gave my statutes to them, and my regulations I made known to them, which, if a person does them, then he will live by them. 12 And also my Sabbaths I gave to them to be a sign between me and between them so they would know that I, Yahweh, am the one sanctifying them.13 “But in the desert the house of Israel rebelled against me; they did not walk in my statutes, and they rejected my regulations, which, if a person does them, he will live by them, and they greatly profaned my Sabbaths, and I decided to pour out my rage on them in the desert to destroy them, 14 and I acted for the sake of my name, that it not be profaned before the eyes of the nations before whom I brought them out.

Yahusha gave us more teaching about the Sabbath. Again, why would the Messiah clarify the proper actions on the Sabbath if there are only nine commandments? How does this not count as the Messiah upholding the Sabbath commandment?

Luke 13:10–17 (LEB)

10 Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, a woman was there* who had a spirit that had disabled her for eighteen years, and she was bent over and not able to straighten herself up completely. 12 And when he* saw her, Jesus summoned her* and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your disability!” 13 And he placed his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, answered and* said to the crowd, “There are six days on which it is necessary to work. Therefore come and* be healed on them, and not on the day of the Sabbath!” 15 But the Lord answered and said to him, “Hypocrites! Does not each one of you untie his ox or his* donkey from the feeding trough on the Sabbath and lead it* away to water it?* 16 And this woman, who is a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan bound eighteen long years—is it not necessary that she be released from this bond on the day of the Sabbath?” 17 And when he said these things, all those who opposed him were humiliated, and the whole crowd was rejoicing at all the splendid things that were being done by him.

There is so much we could say about the importance of the Sabbath and the time the Messiah took to restore the day as it is intended. The ones who think a day of rest is a burden of outdated “Jewish” law are being deceived and robbed of a blessing. I am afraid for people who speak against the Sabbath and try to replace it with something the Creator did not sanction. Will their ignorance be overlooked? Messiah Yahusha told us that anyone teaching against the commandments would be considered least in the kingdom.

Matthew 5:17–19 (LEB)

17 “Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one tiny letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all takes place. 19 Therefore whoever abolishes one of the least of these commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever keeps them and teaches them, this person will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

One must ask what it means to be least in the kingdom of God. It is not something I would strive for, and Yahusha tells us exactly how to get there. It is by abolishing and teaching people to abolish even the least of the commandments. Is this not what the church is doing by abolishing the Sabbath and teaching others it is abolished?

Mark 9:42–48 (LEB):

42 “And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it is better for him if instead a large millstone⌋is placed around his neck and he is thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life crippled than, having two hands, to go into hell—into the unquenchable fire! 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life lame than, having two feet, to be thrown into hell! 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out! It is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not extinguished.’

Is causing someone who believes in Yahusha to sin the same as teaching them to break the commandments? If I were teaching those who believe in Messiah to abolish the commandments of God, I would seriously consider these verses. It makes me wonder why anyone would consider teaching people to break the commandments, even if they thought they were right. No one is required to teach against the commandments, so why do it and risk being the “least in the kingdom”? Yahusha is quoting the verses in Isaiah speaking about the coming kingdom. Is it possible the least in the kingdom are described in the following verses? I would take this very seriously!

Isaiah 66:22–24 (LEB):

22 “For just as the new heavens and earth that I am about to make shall stand before me,” declares Yahweh, “so shall your descendants and your name stand.
23 And this shall happen: From new moon to new moon and from Sabbath to Sabbath all flesh shall come to bow in worship before me,” says Yahweh. 24 “And they shall go out and look at the corpses of the people who have rebelled against me,
for their worm shall not die,
and their fire shall not be quenched,
and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

The Sabbath is hardly the least of the commandments! It is in the top ten! Why do Christians hate the Sabbath? It is a day of rest! What is there to hate? I suggest people who are concerned about what Yahusha said should study these things for themselves and not let false teachers teach them that commandments are abolished.

Revelation 13:9-10

The crusader mentality is alive and well in western Christianity. Read the history of the crusades for the finer details, but the folks who took part in the crusades were essentially told they could break all the commandments of God on the way to their war because “God” was with them. The “church” gave these mercenaries these instructions. They stole, plundered and ravaged everything in their path.

Eze 33:25 Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “You eat blood in your meat, and you raise your eyes to your idols and you pour out blood, and yet you want to take possession of the land?
Eze 33:26 You rely on your sword, you do a detestable thing, and each man defiles the wife of his neighbor, and yet you want to take possession of the land?”‘
Eze 33:27 “Thus you must say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “As I live, surely whoever is in the ruins, by the sword they will fall, and whoever is on the surface of the open field, I will give him to the animals to eat him, and whoever is in the stronghold and in the cave, they will die by the plague.

Yahuah is telling the people they are breaking the commandments of God; such as, eating blood, doing pagan feasts and going after their neighbour’s wife. Then, they are relying on their sword to “take the land”. Taking the land this way is similar to us forcing the kingdom of God on an evil world, or making our causes we are fighting for in the flesh on par with God’s work. Is this not what is happening today?

Mat 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place! For all who take up the sword will die by the sword.
Mat 26:53 Or do you think that I cannot call upon my Father, and he would put at my disposal at once more than twelve legions of angels?
Mat 26:54 How then would the scriptures be fulfilled that it must happen in this way?”

We must not take the battle into our own hands. Events are happening to fulfill prophecy. There is no earthly kingdom worthy of us taking up arms on their behalf. We are part of a different kingdom, with a different future. Authoritarian, totalitarian leaders are in place right now to punish the people breaking the covenant. It is going to get worse and fighting back will not help. The only cure is to repent and do what Yahusha told us to do, which is to stop sinning.

Rom 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except by God, and those that exist are put in place by God.
Rom 13:2 So then, the one who resists authority resists the ordinance which is from God, and those who resist will receive condemnation on themselves.
Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a cause of terror for a good deed, but for bad conduct. So do you want not to be afraid of authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from it,
Rom 13:4 for it is God’s servant to you for what is good. But if you do what is bad, be afraid, because it does not bear the sword to no purpose. For it is God’s servant, the one who avenges for punishment on the one who does what is bad.
Rom 13:5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath but also because of conscience.
Rom 13:6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are servants of God, busily engaged in this very thing.
Rom 13:7 Pay to everyone what is owed: pay taxes to whom taxes are due; pay customs duties to whom customs duties are due; pay respect to whom respect is due; pay honor to whom honor is due.

Doing good always means doing what Yahuah commanded. There is nothing else that is good. God uses the overlords to punish his people doing evil in his sight. That’s all that we as believers need to take from these words of Paul. Peter echos these words.

1Pe 2:13 Subject yourselves to every human authority for the sake of the Lord, whether to a king as having supreme authority,
1Pe 2:14 or to governors as those sent out by him for the punishment of those who do evil and the praise of those who do good.
1Pe 2:15 For the will of God is as follows: by doing good to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
1Pe 2:16 Live as free persons, and not using your freedom as a covering for evil, but as slaves of God.
1Pe 2:17 Honor all people, love the community of believers, fear God, honor the king.
1Pe 2:18 Domestic slaves, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unjust.
1Pe 2:19 For this finds favor, if because of consciousness of God someone endures sorrows while suffering unjustly.
1Pe 2:20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if you endure when you do good and suffer for it, this finds favor with God.

If we do good and are punished for it we find favour with God. What is good? Every word that comes from the mouth of Yahuah.

Deu 12:28 Be careful to obey all these things that I am commanding you, so that it will go well for you and for your children after you forever, because then you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

We are in the middle of Matthew 24. “Watch out that no one deceives you!”, means that there will be people deceived.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you!
Mat 24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And you are going to hear about wars and rumors of wars. See to it that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Mat 24:8 But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
Mat 24:9 “Then they will hand you over to persecution and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations because of my name.
Mat 24:10 And then many will be led into sin and will betray one another and will hate one another,

Mat 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and will deceive many,
Mat 24:12 and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold.
Mat 24:13 But the one who endures to the end—this person will be saved.

If someone comes to you and tells you “Jesus” said you could break the commandments of God, that is a false Christ. It is likely the same one who has a birthday during the celebration of the Saturnalia (Christmas) and rose on a Sunday after only spending a day and a half in the grave. This false Christ uses fertility symbols such as eggs and rabbits to honour the queen of heaven. His name is really Tammuz or Mithras, but many have confused him with the true Messiah. Matthew 24:12, “and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold.“. This “lawlessness” is not talking about breaking civil law. It is the total abandonment of righteousness through the law of God. The false prophets are not deceiving people who do not regard the Creator as anything, they are deceiving followers of Christ to abandon the covenant by breaking the commandments shamelessly.

2Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is at work already; only the one who now restrains will do so until he is out of the way,
2Th 2:8 and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth, and wipe out by the appearance of his coming,
2Th 2:9 whose coming is in accordance with the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 and with every unrighteous deception against those who are perishing, in place of which they did not accept the love of the truth, so that they would be saved.
2Th 2:11 And because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie,
2Th 2:12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

Yahusha told us to worship the Father in spirit and truth, not as the nations worship their gods. Untangle yourself from these worldly things that are masquerading as if they are from God. Accept the fact that evil governments are in power through God to punish us for our sin. The solution to this problem is to stop sinning against the covenant we have through Messiah Yahusha.

Joh 8:10 So Jesus, straightening up and seeing no one except the woman, said to her, “Where are those accusers of yours? Does no one condemn you?”
Joh 8:11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” So Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more.”

Anytime truth is spoken about, such as, “in spirit and truth”, or “they love not the truth”, we must understand the definition of truth as the writers understood it. Truth is not yours to define. Truth is defined by scripture.

Psa 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is truth.

Psa 119:151 You are near, O Yahweh, and all your commands are truth.

Psa 119:160 The whole of your word is truth, and your every righteous judgment endures forever.

Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Joh 14:7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you know him and have seen him.”

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth—your word is truth.

Do you hate his commandments, law or word? Are you a suppressor of the truth, which is any of these defined by scripture? This is what it means to not believe the truth and delight in unrighteousness! Your Christian theology that promotes lawlessness and idolatry is causing a multitude of problems. It attracts demons, and puts you under the curse of the law.

“Remember the day of the Sabbath, to consecrate it. Six days you will work, and you will do all your work. But the seventh day is a Sabbath for Yahweh your God; you will not do any work—you or your son or your daughter, your male slave or your female slave, or your animal, or your…

Meaningless Works and the Instructions of God
